When David came too, the first thing he knew was pain, and with the pain came an even worse sensation as he suddenly found himself slipping in and out of his memories of both lives. It hurt, a lot. David could feel the bandages around his body as he struggled to bring himself up to a sitting position, but the pain was so blinding he could not help but cry out as he stiffened his body to deal with the pain. “If I were you I wouldn’t move around that much.” David knew that voice, and quite frankly he did not know whether to be relieved or angry he was hearing it. David turned his eyes at Lilith with every intention of giving her a lecture about pissing off the wrong people. But the intense pain he was currently feeling prevented him from moving too much, much less saying anything. However he was able to see Lilith, and she was not really looking good. She was shackled to the wall opposite the bed he was lying on, it was rather awkward watching her single arm raised above her in chains, but what was more awkward was the fact that she was naked. Bed ridden or not, David had an obvious reaction to her naked body, but it only took one look from those savage eyes of hers to bring any sort of excitement crashing down as if he was doused with cold water. “Where are we?” David asked when he was able to get control over his body. As he asked his question he looked at anywhere else but her, as he tried to avoid making eye contact with her very naked body. But Lilith did not seem to be in a mood to answer, all she did was fiddle with the chains that held her to the wall, pulling and smashing them against any solid surface so that she could get out. David was frustrated, he did not understand this woman, sometimes he felt like they were on the same wavelength, and on the same page. That somehow there was a modicum of understanding and respect between the two of them, but all of a sudden she’s cold and detached and silent. With no forthcoming answer from her, David busied himself with observing his surroundings. He was also shackled to the bed he was on too, but unlike Lilith he was thankfully not naked. Much of his torso was covered with bandages while he had on the same jeans he was wearing at the time of the accident, or maybe it was another pair he couldn’t be sure since he could not move much. The room they were in was quite small, it was five meters wide and long on all four corners, with only one entrance in and out. There was a metal gate with a hazy outline of electricity around its frame and individual rods. David had only seen security like this in a prison manifesto, which explains why the room they were in was so small. But he doubted those guys were the army, considering the army were not so brutal as to tie up a one armed girl naked, and under the mercy of the cold. So either this guys had access to a prison, or someone has been able to build a secure facility wherever the hell this place was. David looked at the chains holding Lilith, wondering why she has not been able to get out, or even leave a chip on it’s pristine silver surface. It took him a little while, but he was able to figure out what it was. “Lilith no matter how much you bash that chain against the wall or floor, you won’t leave a scratch on its surface, much less a dent. That’s reinforced Ionite coated with a much more pliable and solid exterior.” Then David stopped talking, hoping that Lilith would listen to him and stop making that God awful noise. But instead all she did was to stop banging to look at him for a few seconds, before going right back to what she was doing. David let out a tired sigh as he aligned his eyes back to the concrete ceiling above him. He could pick out tiny blue lines that ran around in circles and lapped over each other to create a rather peculiar symbol. David was shocked as he recognized what he was looking at, this was a rune. The written language of magic and the so called words of creation and nature. It didn’t mean much to David but it now left him with the feeling that he was not dealing with normal people. Anyone with the capability to construct or pay someone to build a magical rune for him or her, must be really powerful. It made him very apprehensive and scared, he worried for their lives, since Lilith did not seem to be one to worry about her situation, David decided to do the worrying for both of them. But he did not have to worry for long, as the sound of someone walking towards the cell drew him out of his panic mode. The room or hall beyond the cell was somehow completely pitch black, David could not see anything but a deep darkness, the only thing he was privy too however was sound. Which made it easier for him to pick out the sound of soft foot falls as they approached. Even till the point where the door slide into the wall much like a prison cell, David was still unable to see the person standing outside. Then he saw one foot walk in, and then the next before his whole body came completely into the room. David was in awe of such abilities, it was as if this guy just literally appeared out of a wall of darkness, people with abilities can not affect nature to such an extent, it was impossible. But magic on the other hand had more than enough juice and wonders to place a barrier of darkness over a cell door. David looked up at the new addition in his cell to discover it was the beautiful man who decided to let them go, before shooting them in the back with something, or someone. As soon as he stepped in, he went straight for Lilith, completely ignoring any presence of David whatsoever. While not being the attention of what David had now deduced to be a dangerous guy, seems like a good scenario, the complete ignorance this man gave David pissed him off a bit. “Who are you?” He asked Lilith, but while doing so he was wise enough to keep his distance from the violent woman. Smart. “Sixteen of my subordinates are dead, and five are seriously injured. I don’t know what you think is happening here, but that’s grounds for me to take your life. So don’t think you’re in control here.” “Clang, Clang, Clang.” That’s was the only answer Lilith felt obligated to give to the man. And David had to be honest she looked really badass ignoring him like that, it was good she was able to give the bastard a taste of his own medicine. He repeated his questions a few more times, trying to find out who she was, but every time he asked, the answer he received was Lilith banging her chains against the wall. And with no way to get any answers from Lilith he turned his attention back to David. He was able to cross the entire distance of the room in four short strides, he gave off the impression of a noble. Like he was born to be one head and status above everyone else. “I think you know what questions I have, and if you don’t want to be in any pain, I suggest you speak up. Who is she.” ‘Seriously' David thought to himself in annoyance. In the end was he so unimportant that no one wanted to know who he was. David would have answered all his questions, that’s is if they were about him. Anyhow you looked at it, two weeks, one sinking island and a Homicidal insane giant lizard was not enough to turn him into an ultimate badass who feared nothing and had an amazing threshold for pain. He was still very much an ordinary young man trying to survive in a world he absolutely had no idea about. A world he didn’t know if he belonged too, or should be in, in the first place. But this guy still chose to brush David aside like he was nothing but a side character. David did not like that one bit, and he was going to act accordingly. “Tortoises.” “What?” the man asked back with a surprised look on his face, even Lilith had stopped her incessant banging at the sound of David’s answer. It was quite honestly rather unexpected to the both of them, but David didn’t care. Even in the midst of danger, it was moments like this David’s youth and childishness came into play, it helped him deal with stressful situations. “My tortoises, there are three of them. Veni, Vidi, and Vici. Please did you see them while you were scraping my half dead body from the road. They’re really important and I will like to have them back.” David replied with an innocent yet painful look on his face. Mr. handsome beautiful did not like that one bit, and he made that clear by heavily dropping his palm over David’s wounded chest. “Arggghhhhh.” David could not stop himself from crying out as white hot pain lanced through his entire body. He found it difficult to breathe for a while, but like most things in life, even the pain had to end. With tears at the side of his eyes, David turned his most hateful gaze onto that perfect face, wishing he had heat vision so he could have melted this bastards face into a puddle of ugliness. “Do you think this is a joke!, your lives are on the line here and you want to mess with me. Do you have a death wish. Huh?” David looked up again, and he couldn’t help himself as he replied back with as much sarcasm as his injured body could muster. “Seriously? That’s the most cliché villain dialogue I have ever heard. Not to mention boring. So maybe you should go check your script and memorize your lines perfectly. And in the main time, tell me where the f**k you kept my tortoises.” Even David was surprised by his own reply. His portrayed attachment to the three tortoises, was only about sixty percent genuine. As for the other forty, he really just wanted to piss this dude with a face like an angel off. “It seems there’s no talking to you two. Very well, maybe a trip to my arena will make you both have a change of mind. That’s if you survive the onslaught of my fighters. I will be sure to bring your, oh excuse my language. I will be sure to bring my turtles around. They will love to see their old owner get torn to bits. Well until next time.” And then he turned around and began to match out, with a practiced gait to make him look badass or something. Add in some slow motion, an epic sound track and some background explosions, then you will get a movie star exit. But David just had to ruin it for him. “They’re tortoises, not turtles you sick monkey.” But he did not even act as if he heard anything. He disappeared into the darkness, with only the sound of his feet left behind as it fell on the floor echoing through their cell. When the sound had completely disappeared David could not help but exclaim and ask. “f**k! Who the hell was that guy.” This time Lilith decided to answer. But her answer did not assuage David’s worries, instead it increased them, tenfold. “He’s a human and exotic creature trafficker. Not to mention he also runs an illegal fighting arena and gambling organization. And we just became the newest additions to his collection.”
