A Solution

When David woke up it was still dark outside, his head was pounding relentlessly, but for the first time since he woke up on Pangea as two souls sharing one body, his head was empty. There was no differing views or ideas. It was just silent. But with that silence came the sudden feeling of insecurity, because even without the conflict David still didn’t know who he was. He was no longer going to war with himself, but he had no idea which part of him won. Who was driving the car now, was it David of Pangea or David of Earth. But there was no answer, he still remembered things from both lives, nothing was different, just his sense of awareness. David of Pangea and David of earth were still there, he could feel it, he knew so because he was them, both of them. But the knowledge of that did not give him the closure he was looking for, the questions still remained unanswered. Who am I?. “You know you slept through the entire day.” Lilith’s voice intruded into his self meditation. He was startled by the knowledge and looked around him as if the still empty store could offer the answer about why he was unconscious for so long. But everything still looked the same, except for Lilith, she was clean, and she was wearing his clothes, well his brother’s clothes but the question of ownership was not the point. She looked incredibly badass and sexy dressed all in black, she had one of his modified handgun strapped to her thigh with one of his daggers actually being spun in her hand. The only thing odd about this view was her missing arm. “If you want to loose your eyeS, then keep staring at me.” David quickly averted his eyes from her body, letting lust cloud his mind at this moment might seem really bizarre, but the only thing that could take his mind of his troubles was remembering how much of a danger her and her beauty posed to him. This was just his way of coping with his confused and fragmented mind. It was not really right, especially for his wellbeing, but it was the only outlet for escape. His own mind seemed like a cage now, and every time he decided to look inside, to think, to understand, he felt like was being swallowed into a void of emptiness created by his two warring personalities. “Your mind is way to strong for your body to keep up with it.” David was startled and he whipped his head so fast to Lilith’s face there was an audible crack accompanying that movement. “What do you mean?” David asked with a fervent gaze plastered on his face. “I’ve seen a condition like yours before, you have a mind with quite a high capacity for power and some telepathic PSIONIC abilities. You would probably be able to use you powers earlier than most, however with every usage it puts a strain on your body, drawing energy that your body is not capable of providing or living without. And when there is such a time where you are under immense mental stress and duress, you would probably explode, or have a very violent seizure, which I think you’re already familiar with.” Lilith’s explanations sort of made sense, David knew it was a whole lot more complicated than that, but he could not just stand up and tell her that he was either a transmigrated soul, or a person who gained memories of another life of his counterpart in another universe. Even In Pangea, such an explanation would probably see him lounging in a psychiatric hospital with no hope for release or escape. But since she had a point, maybe she had a way to counter his condition. “Do you know a way I can stop the seizure and the headaches.” David asked earnestly. Lilith leaned her back against the counter of the store, standing at a distance so she could keep an eye on David. The twelve inch long dagger in her hand swirled and made rapid movements with such finesse David wondered if she was actually left handed instead. “There’s a couple of ways to solve this problem. First you can wait for it to solve itself naturally by increasing the level of you physique, or having your mental prowess evolve to level three or four. That way you should have quite a handle and good control over your abilities. Or alternatively you could train your body, and make sure its in a good enough shape to handle the strain of your psychic powers activating.” David kept on nodding his head as if he was receiving the scriptures of some holy book. He was not sure how far Lilith’s advice would take him, but this was a direction to move towards, training his body would not stabilize his mind or keep one of his souls in balance, however it would make his body strong enough to withstand the strain of carrying two souls. David looked Lilith in the face as he sincerely said to her. “Thank you.” She looked at him with a nonchalant look on her face and said to him. “Don’t bother thanking me, until we’re safely behind the walls of the city of iron, it would be in my best interest to keep you alive. Don’t read anything into it.” What she said might have been true, however both David had always been people who were grateful for every little help rendered to them. At least this was one thing they both agreed on.
