CHAPTER NINETEEN Sebastian picked his way across the broken stone of the bridge as carefully as he could, trusting in the training of his horse but still wanting to push it forward. Sophia was somewhere ahead, and that thought was enough to send him hurrying across the bridge, even when his horse’s hooves skittered on the broken sections. “Not far,” he told his horse, patting its neck. “We’ll find her soon.” This time, it felt as though it would happen.
