Sin’s POV
She was leaving? I couldn’t believe it, this was the first female to walk away from me. Usually, my presence attracted females from all over.
My wolf soon turned around and sure enough, she was now about a hundred metres away from me and the distance between us was growing fast. My wolf gave chase. He wasn’t willing to lose her but he didn’t want to catch her just yet so he ran after her at a slower speed than his top speed.
This was fun, we had not played like this in a while. She was weaving around the trees at a fast speed and my wolf would nip at her tail anytime we caught up to her. I could tell that she did not like this because she would speed up anytime I did this. I was impressed.
Her scent was hard to describe but it was that sweet and a bit spicy, it reminded me of the water hyacinths my mother loved to grow around the house.
I was too caught up in my thoughts that I was not paying attention to the direction in which she was running and soon I saw the watering hole was right in front of us. She did not stop or slow down as she neared the watering hole. She just dove right into it.
I, on the other hand, slowed down as I neared the water hole. My wolf wasn’t too fond of the water so he didn’t dare enter the watering hole. She seemed to be enjoying it though as she splashed and rolled in the water. Only one pack had wolves that liked the water as much as she was showing that she did, which was the Clear Water Pack. I wasn’t sure if they has sent any wolves for the festival this time, I’d have to ask her which pack she was from when she was in human form to confirm though.
She was ignoring us but my wolf wanted her attention so he let out a soft bark. This was very unlike his typical behaviour, he was not usually this demure and I had never heard him let out such a soft bark.
She continued ignoring us so my wolf let out another bark but louder this time. It still was not menacing so I could tell he was holding back. She suddenly stopped playing in the water and turned to face my wolf. She stood in the same pose as my wolf and then she let out a bark that was louder than the one my wolf had let out. She was making fun of us, I could tell.
At least she was enjoying this exchange, my wolf though was fed up. We had never had anyone mock us like this, Although my wolf didn’t want to use his power to get her attention, he was too fed up to take care and he didn’t want her disrespecting him, so he let out a low growl.
That got her attention so she started to move towards us, out of the water. My wolf was excited to have her full attention but as soon as her entire body was out of the water she detoured and moved around us. As much as my wolf tried, we could not catch her scent since she was wet.
She ran towards the tree line. My wolf started to follow her but she turned to us and growled softly. She did not want us to follow her. She then sat on the ground on her hind legs. My wolf and I took it to mean that she wanted us to stay there and not move so we stopped moving. We mimicked her by sitting on the ground too. Once she was certain that we wouldn’t follow her, she resumed running towards the treeline and my wolf sat by the river bank. I hope that I read her signs correctly and that she would be back soon.
Emery’s POV
As I trotted toward the tree line in my wolf form, away from the wolf that had been following me since it had startled away the rabbit that I had been stalking, I could not shake off the weird feeling I had been having since I caught that wolf’s scent for the first time. I did not know what the wolf wanted and I figured that it would be better to shift into human form and find out what he wanted, maybe then he would leave me alone.
I reached the tree line and started searching for clothes to shift into. Wolf packs usually kept spare clothes in the trees to be used when we needed to shift into our human forms during runs. I found a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. I quickly shifted into my human form and then put on the t-shirt. Since the shirt came up to my knees. I decided that I didn’t need to put on the pair of shorts so I took them in my hand and walked out of the tree line and towards the large wolf with brown fur who was still sitting in the same spot I had left him in.
His tail started wagging as I walked up to him. He seemed to be happy that I was back. I knew that he would not leave me alone until we talked so I would let him talk so that we could go our separate ways after. I'm pretty sure I would still be able to catch that rabbit after.
I draped the pair of shorts over his back.
“Shift, I want to talk to you,” I said to him. I hoped that he did not find that offensive since my tone made my words sound like a command. I could tell that this wolf had a higher rank than I was because his wolf was so much bigger than me. He let out a huff before he put his head down. I could tell he was not planning on changing behind trees as I had done so I turned around and sure enough I heard the sound of bones start cracking.
“You can turn around now.” He said in a smooth deep voice.
"Are you sure about that?" I asked. I was a bit sceptical since he couldn't have taken such a short amount of time to put on the shorts.
"Positive." He said.
