Chapter 13“Three B’s and a C,” Hayden announced, looking up at the results displayed in the window outside his high school. It was mid-August and the A-level results had just been posted. Beside him, several other students were getting their results, some were yelling and screaming with happiness, a few others were crying, presumably in disappointment or despair. Kenny, who’d been standing behind Hayden, wrapped his arms around Hayden and kissed the side of Hayden’s head. “Congrats, baby,” he whispered in Hayden’s ear. “So proud of you.” “Well done, love,” Hayden’s mother, who was standing next to him, added. “Thanks.” Hayden led the small group away from the window to allow others to crowd in to see their results. “Guess you’re going to Liverpool University then?” Kenny said.
