Chapter 3It was Friday evening and Hayden was bored. As he’d finished his exams, he didn’t have any homework. He hadn’t found anything to interest him on television. Even playing on his game consoles hadn’t appealed. His thoughts, as they often did these days, centred on Kenny. The man normally ate dinner with them on Friday nights but he hadn’t shown. This was the second week in a row. Hayden feared it was because of their talk in the changing room the other week. Without Kenny’s lively presence at the table, dinner with just his parents was pretty quiet. His dad seemed preoccupied with something that’d happened that day at work, and his mother was mad at his dad over something. Hayden didn’t know what and didn’t want to know, so conversation was almost non-existent.
