“Now you’ve seen our enemies!” Rasper shouted angrily. The microphone seemed twice as loud. Perhaps one of the Browncoat Boys had turned it up, or more likely Rasper himself. “Now you’ve heard their lies!”
Horne and Bill Rory and then Pike started to shout their support and clap Rasper, urging the crowd to do the same.
“They say, I only want power for myself!” Rasper yelled. “Did I bring the No-Life Man to Thistown? No, I didn’t! Did I try and cover up his message? No, I didn’t! Who did? The Old Assembly, that’s who! They wanted to keep the No-Life Man as their secret! Well, I showed him to you! I broke up this corrupt Old Assembly! And I have given the New Assembly uniforms so that they can never be secret again!”
