Chapter 3When I get home, I take a quick shower, make a huge pot of coffee, then grab my laptop to email Karl and tell him about my dead phone so he doesn’t worry himself into getting an ulcer if he tries to call and I don’t pick up. And when I open my email program, it’s there. A new email, from sender Viggo Moberg, with the subject line “As promised.” I lean back, take a sip of my coffee, read his name on my screen over and over again between sips as a smile spreads on my face. I expected him to keep his word—his interest was unmistakable—but I didn’t expect him to do it so quickly. The time stamp on the message tells me he probably wrote it at the rest stop before heading back to the cabin, something that makes my smile even wider. By now, I’m probably grinning like a loon.
