Chapter 4 I had no idea how long I’d been asleep. My dreams had been dark and confusing, filling me with dread as a faceless man pursued me through a dark landscape. Desperate to escape, not knowing who he was or why he was chasing me, I’d wrenched myself awake, heart pounding. I let it settle before I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up. My legs collapsed under me as a riot of colour and noise assaulted my mind. It was as though a dozen people were talking at once and I clasped my hands over my ears in an attempt to block it out. The noise barged through my defences as the image that accompanied it crystallized. I had a side-on view of a bus filled with older men and women. They were chatting loudly, smiling and animated.
