Chapter 13
Celeste had fried the lock to her room and was now working on Andie’s. I tossed my fireball toward the observation desk before moving to free Nick and Daniel. The earthquake Ethan had created made keeping my footing difficult, but that was a small price to pay if it kept the armed guards out of my hair. The four assigned to guard duty reacted quickly to our escape attempt, rallying in the middle of the room, raising their weapons.
As soon as she was free, Andie rushed to my side and took my hand, restoring the energy I’d given to Ethan. Filled with power, I sent out a wave of it to knock the rifle out of one guard’s hands, while a zap of lightning was swiftly accompanied by a pained cry of alarm as Celeste took care of another.
