Ayesha has been living a hell of a life ever since the death of her parents. She lived with her uncle who unfortunately has a wife and two children who abuses and bullies her without him knowing it. She became their slave when he was not around but she couldn't do anything about it. Until one fateful night, she took a sniff of the most captivating scent in her entire life. She followed it and came face to face with the most gorgeous man he has ever seen in her entire existence.

"MATE," He said which made her freeze.

Chapter 1: The Ball
“What are you looking at? Can’t you see that there are so much that needs to be done here?” My aunt Hillary snapped at me. She looked so regal in her red dress that hugged her body perfectly. The full make-up and the way she carries herself wouldn’t actually let you see through her true age. She’s old but she still acts and dresses like she’s a teenager. Although, I didn't really see any problem with that; I was just saying what I have observed. “Mother, maybe she wants to go to the ball too,” Fernice, my older cousin, rolled her eyes at me. She was wearing a tight pink dress which made her look like she was wrapped in a blanket. No offense, but it didn’t really suit her body well. “Why? Is she even qualified to go there? I mean, look at her!” Vernice, my younger cousin, mocked me. She looked like a real-life Barney in her purple layered dress. I almost laughed at that thought but, of course, I didn’t say that out loud, or else I would really regret it. “Ayesha!” My Aunt yelled when I just stood there not saying a thing, even when they were all throwing insults at me. What can I do? I was having a blast making fun of them in my mind and they wouldn’t have even the tiniest idea about it. “Aunt Hillary,” I walked as fast as I could towards her. Every time she calls me by my full name, it’s either she’s mad or she’s happy and right at that moment, I didn’t see why she should feel the latter. “Hurry and get my purse from my bedroom, now!” She yelled. Actually, I am not new to this kind of scenario. It’s as if things like this are what happens to me on a daily basis. I get yelled at, insulted and even abused by these people. I walked as fast as I could to Aunt Hillary’s room and took her purse, which was on top of her bed. I didn’t want her to get mad at me and would end up slapping me or pushing me down on the floor. I’ve had so much of that that I don’t want to add anything up for today. I handed her the purse and she took it from me hastily. “Such a slow worker,” She said straight to my face. Honestly, if I was a faint-hearted person, I would cry every time they treated me like that, but I guess I have been here quite long already that I got used to it. I felt like they don’t affect me that much anymore; their words cannot pierce through me. “Is everything alright here?” Uncle Meson said, his voice boomed through the house, making everyone silent. He was wearing a black tuxedo and his hair was brushed up, looking as formal as ever. He looked so much like my dad and I couldn’t help but miss him even more. “Of course, hon, everything is set,” Aunt Hillary said as she smiled sweetly at me. She’s always like that whenever Uncle Meson is around. She and my cousins would act all nice towards me but I know very well that it was just for show. They don’t want Uncle Meson to find out that they were all bullying and abusing me when he’s not around. “Why aren’t you dressed yet?” Uncle Meson was looking at me as if I had just grown a horn. “We’re going to be late,” “U-Uhmm, I am—“ I was about to tell him that I wasn’t going because Aunt Hillary strictly told me to stay in the house when I was cut off. “She’s not feeling well, Hon,” His wife cut me off as she walked towards her husband and fixed his tie. “She’s staying.” “Is that so?” Uncle Meson turned to me and so did Aunt Hillary. She gave me a warning look and I knew exactly what that meant. I looked down at my feet and nodded. I sighed. “Yeah, I’m not really feeling well, Uncle. I think I need to stay and rest.” I lied. As much as I wanted to go, I know Aunt Hillary would get mad at me and I would get a taste of her anger once Uncle Meson won’t be around. “Are you sure? You don’t look like you’re sick.” He walked closer to me, which made me look at him. Aunt Hillary was behind him and was eyeing me. I nodded. “Y-Yes, Uncle,” I even faked a cough so he would believe me. “Alright, rest well and call us if you need anything, okay? Also, take some meds.” I saw Aunt Hillary breathe out in relief when Uncle Meson said that. I was defeated once again. I nodded. Uncle Meson has been nothing but kind towards me. He acts like my father and he cares for me genuinely, unlike his family who only sees me as a burden and would slave me around. Uncle Meson said goodbye to me and went out of the door with his children. I was left alone with Aunt Hillary who was looking at me as if I was a disgusting thing. I don’t know why she hates me that much, but I guess it was because she doesn’t want me to stay there. She always tells me that I should go and find my own place because I don’t belong here and that they don’t need me to be there. She and her children always made me feel that I am and will never be a part of their family. “Don’t you dare say a word to your Uncle about anything, alright? Or else I’ll be forced to throw you out of this house. Anyway, he won’t believe you, so you better shut your mouth.” She said with venom in her voice. I know what she was trying to say. Of course, I know that Uncle Meson would believe and choose his family over me, so I won’t even dare try. Plus, I didn’t want to cause any trouble for him and his family. No matter how they slave me around, I am still grateful that there is one person who loves me genuinely. I nodded. “Yes, Aunt Hillary,” I said in a low voice. I didn’t want her to throw me out of their house. I have nowhere else to go and this pack is the only place that I have been ever since I became an orphan. I literally don’t have anyone else aside from them and even if they were mean to me, I still treat them as family nevertheless. She left without saying goodbye to me and I walked upstairs to my room. I saw them leaving as I looked at my window which I had left open. They were going to a party. It was an event that was made for the visit of the alpha from the neighboring pack. He and our pack’s alpha are signing a treaty tonight about each pack’s territory and rumor has it that this alpha hasn’t found his mate yet. Aunt Hillary was hoping that one of my cousins would be his mate. That’s why they were all going. I wonder what that alpha looks like. I heard from Fernice and Vernice that he is quite a good-looking guy with a strong personality. They said that he is ruthless when it comes to leading the pack and that he never even once lost a fight against their enemies. It’s a good thing that they are going to be allied with our pack.
