Chapter 3
The next morning things were back to normal, at least for Noah and Cody. They both had jobs they needed to show up for, now that the search for the mayor had been called off. After meeting as usual in the lobby of their apartment building, they walked to Eldora, the main street through town, planning as always to go their separate ways when they got there.
When they reached the corner Cody said, “While almost everyone in town was off searching for Mayor Dunn yesterday, it looks as if the new owner of the old bakery was busy there.”
Noah nodded in agreement. The windows of the business had been covered from the inside with brown paper. When they got across the street they found that even the small one in the door was blocked off, but with copies of building permits.
