Chapter 5Ward checked his phone, then pocketed it.
“That’s the third time, honey, you’ve checked.” Leesa tsk-tsked.
“I was just seeing if Paul is coming.”
“And?” Leesa asked.
“He hasn’t texted.”
“Well, did you ask him?” James asked, putting the ham back in the oven. “Why don’t you just text him?” James smiled. “A few more minutes and I’ll put the glaze on.” James said, looking pleased with the ham. “I think Zach would be impressed.”
“He would, Dad,” Ward said after squeezing his dad’s shoulder as checked out the ham through the glass. “And no, he made it clear he would let me know if he was coming. I’m not going to harass him.”
“But he’s your boyfriend!” Benji shouted as he continued to watch football on TV. “Aren’t you supposed to have him come over?”
