Chapter 21: Disaster in a Tobacco Factory, 1921It was an unmitigated f*****g disaster. Oh, the Pull worked all right. They sat in the smaller room at the back of the tobacco warehouse Lew had scoped out during the preceding week. The sandy brickwork was unplastered, like the rest of the building, but it was lined with heavy shelving and there was a large oak table in the center of the room, with chairs still around it. It had probably been built in situ, Lew thought—it certainly couldn’t have been brought in through the door. It was dusty and dark, but they had the lantern and a bag of candles to work with. It all smelled faintly of stale rough cut and the misery of paperwork, and Kelly breathed in appreciatively as they laid everything out. Mrs. Finn was dressed in what was clearly her S
