For the next couple of days life went on as usual for me. Meaning, boring as hell. The few friends I had were busy. Ruby and Victor had been fighting whereas Jesse and his new boyfriend Gilbert were still in their newly discovered state of bliss. Not that I did anything particularly exciting even when they were available. I’d always been a bit of a loner. I couldn’t see myself going to a bar or anything to pick anyone up. I’d probably die a virgin. Seemed like it.
I was basically ignoring the fact my twenty-second birthday was tomorrow and I had absolutely no plans. For my twenty-first, my friends had shown up at my parents’ home to kidnap me and take me for beer and pizza.
