Emma
Mike…My sister is with Mike? This can’t be. I push the door lightly and see my sister lying on her back. Naked. I see the broad back of the man on top of her as she wraps her legs around him.
“Mike, you are so good at this. I’m… “ her voice rises as he starts moving faster. She makes another sound of pleasure and he grabs her legs, lifting them higher. Claire’s hand closes in the sheet as she pants, pleasure overtaking her.
Her other hand is on his back, and she digs her nails into the muscular flesh of the man.
“Don’t stop, “ she begs.
I push the door further and it creaks. And I see them on the bed in full display.
This really is him. The father of my baby is having s*x with my own sister.
My hand goes to my belly instinctively and I gasp. Mike turns his head and sees me as I stand there.
“Emma!”
he exclaims and my sister gasps, unwrapping her legs from around him.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
she yells.
“I could ask the same!” I shout, still processing everything.
“What is going on?”
My pulse is thudding like a storm and I hear it echoing in my head.
“Why… Why are you with her?” I manage and Mike gets up from the bed. His muscles shift as he moves and I look away, embarrassed. He grabs a towel and wraps it around his waist. Mike heads to the small table by the bed.
“You know, Emma. “ he begins and pours himself a shot from the whisky bottle.
“I never really liked you. “
“What are you talking about?” I ask and my sister wraps the bedsheet around herself.
“And you?“ I hissed at her, “How could you do this!”
“I don’t know what you are talking about. “
She smiles and gets up too. Claire wraps her arms around Mike and he takes a sip from his drink.
“Emma, you are married to that psycho James. Why are you even here?” he asks.
“I… I am carrying your baby!” I yell, “How dare you act like nothing happened?”
“Well, “ Mike says and places the glass back on the table after he finishes the drink in it.
“I don’t give a f**k. “ Mike’s tone is casual as he pours another whisky shot.
“What?” I gasped, “But…”
“That baby is not mine. “ he says and my sister hugs him tighter. “I never slept with you. “
“No, “ I begin, my eyes flickering to Claire, who is smiling mockingly at me.
“No, none of this is true! What is happening?!”
I yell, demanding and Claire’s smile grows wider as Mike untangles her arms from around him and comes to stand before me, glass in his hand.
“Emma, I never liked you. “ Mike begins, “I lied, I don’t care about you. As for that night - you were so drunk that I am not sure you would make a difference between a man or an animal.“
My sister laughs. Then Mike makes a disgusted face at me as he takes a sip.
“Besides, I would never sleep with anyone who’s been close to James. In any way. “
Mike grins, “Do you know what they say about him?”
I shake my head, the feeling of disgust sprouting in my stomach.
“They say he is heartless. That he never touches anyone and no woman has ever been close to him. “
I want to cover my ears and stop listening but Michael goes on.
“What do you think he does to all women, daring to approach him? Hm?” Mike’s smile is vicious. No one has ever seen James let a woman close to him. He is a stone-cold monster.
Mike sloshes the whisky in his glass and looks at me, lifting an eyebrow.
“Do you think he kills everyone who dares approach him?”
The chills numb my spine. I’ve never been more hurt in my life. What makes everything more scary is perhaps Michael’s words are true.
“Do you think…” he says, licking his slips, “Do you think he will kill you? And your baby, too?”
No…No. James won’t kill my baby.
I clench my teeth and turn to my sister.
“And you?” I ask, “My flesh and blood? How could you do this? How could you betray me like this?”
She runs a hand through her hair and puffs her lips.
“You’ve lost your mind, “ she says, “No one betrayed you, because Mike doesn’t love you. He never did. And stop making s**t up!”
“You don’t care that our mother is dying, do you?” I realize and my sister shrugs.
“I guess we all die eventually, don’t we?”
I can’t believe her.
“Emma, “ My sister says and places her hands on her waist, “I think it’s time to leave. Don’t you think you’ve humiliated yourself enough already?”
Mike is on her side, I can see it in the way he is looking at me. All his promises were lies. He never cared about me. I was so stupid to trust him.
“As for mother, “ Claire shrugs, “If she is so sick, she will just die, right? We can’t stop it from happening.”
“What?”
I yell and find myself walking towards her. “Is that all you have to say?!”
“You ruin everything!” I can barely speak through the limp in my throat, “You don’t care about mother or anyone. You are so selfish!”
“What are you going to do?” Claire yells too and she grabs me. Her nails dig into my shoulders and I push her, forcefully.
She tries to grab my hair but I manage to pull hers.
Mike comes to stand between us, separating us. I am still struggling but he is much stronger and I stop resisting after a while.
“Listen, “ he says, and there’s a threat in his voice. “I will tell you what happened that night and who is the real father of your child. But you have to do something for me, too. “
“What?” I ask, fear beginning to overtake me.
“I will give you the address and you just need to get in the car that will be waiting for you downstairs. “
Mike says, “You get in, take the people in it to the address you are given and that’s it. “
“Who are these people? What place?”
I ask, frantic.
“You ask too many questions. Do it and I will tell you what happened that night.”
“How do I know you are not lying?” I hiss and the slow smile grows on his lips.
“You don't.”
I clench my teeth so hard it hurts. Claire is watching me, smugly and I realize it- they’ve planned all of this.
I am betrayed by my sister and the man I thought loved me.
“Face it, Emma. “ Mike says, content, “ You have no other choice. “
And he is right. I don't. I have to do what he says if I want to know the truth.
Half an hour later a black car is waiting for me. I get in and the men inside are all dressed in suits.
I get in the backseat and two men sit on my two sides. I have no way to move, let alone escape. The car starts and I notice another car is coming after us.
“Where are we going?”
I ask and one of the men glances at me.
“A place where they will let you in.”
I frown as they drive outside of the city.
We arrive shortly and I recognize the area. It's a big manor on the expensive outskirts of the city. They need me because the security guards watching over the place know me and will open the gates for us.
We are going to one of James Miller’s private properties.
