'I think I’m going insane. I should not have done that. I scared her. s**t!′ I thought.
I couldn’t sleep that night because I couldn’t stop thinking about how Claire felt when I coldly handcuffed her. I could also feel her fear. It has been three hours since I left the room. I took a deep breath, grabbed the pillow and blanket I’d taken earlier, and descended the stairs.
I slowly turned the door handle and peered inside the room. Claire was sleeping peacefully on the bed, holding a pillow to her bosom. I went around to the other side of the bed and put the pillow and blanket I held in the space on the bed. I sat on the couch near Claire’s bed and watched her sleep.
