Chapter 3

His black eyes were firm on me. Quickly, I adverted my gaze to the floor. I had a feeling he was still looking at me but my question was, why? Every single time we met, he stared at me like he was analyzing my soul which made me uncomfortable. I looked around and wanted to disappear. Everyone had their gaze on me and it was not of a happy one. What did I do wrong? I served the alpha and the lords which was what the head maid was supposed to do or did that rule change some seconds ago? I was at the corner but in a way I wanted to fuse into the wall if that would make them stop staring at me. I know I was the only one in the room without a wolf. Every individual even the servants had their wolves except me. It was like being the odd one but it was not like I was fully human, I was part wolf. Well, forty percent but does that still count or did it not? I shut my eyes and heaved a sigh, I need to calm down. I was feeling hot again and that was not good. Whenever I did, I sweat. When I sweat, I remove my clothes which was the reason I slept naked lately. For some strange reason, I always felt hot at night. I had hoped it was my wolf coming to the surface but it was just my wolf blood acting up. I had wondered why but no specific reason was given to me. Mabel had told me female wolves usually felt hot around their mates but that was unlikely for me. The doctor who had checked on me and revealed my part wolf, part human blood said I was never going to get a mate since I had more of the human blood in me so why then was I always feeling hot? I was deep in thought trying to make sense of why I was feeling hot now. “You!" I snapped my head to the side. Prince Mateo the oldest of the Princes said with authority. He was to be the Beta of the pack but at the moment he was still known as the Prince of Crimson Red Clan. His features were similar to that of a wolf. His eyes were golden, his facial hair was lightly trimmed and his hair was long and packed in a ponytail. While I struggled to calm my raging body, he walked in my direction. His aura was somewhat close to that of the alpha. I swallowed. Whatever he was about to do, I knew I would not like it. “Name," he said standing before me “A-Aurora" I stammered “Why are you in white?" Was that the problem? I put on white because I am the head maid of course. Lord Everett had permitted me to put it on since he found out it was my favourite colour. He has been the one who did not treat me like a complete outcast. Though, head maids usually wore a different colour from the ones other maids put on to distinguish them. It seemed they did not like that rule for me. “I- Whi- White-" “Do you stutter?" he asked I shook my head. “Lizard, I guess" and laughter echoed in the room “Get out" he commanded “But..." The words went down my throat as he held my neck pulling me with it “You want to question me? Remember who you are, servant. I can easily reap your head off" he dropped me and I fell to the ground on my buttocks “Stand up and get out" Quickly, I got up and turned to the door to leave. I felt a sharp pain from my right knee down to my feet but I still approached the door. “She would not leave" the alpha's voice echoed in the room and I paused in my tracks “Yet" he added with the side of his lips curved up Then I realized what they were doing. I was their entertainment. Humiliating me was giving them a sense of happiness. That was all they did. If it were not spilling drinks on me, it was making me their target practice board. Ever since I came here I was nothing but a form of entertainment to them. Alpha Ryder raised his index and middle finger gesturing for me to come over. I glanced around before taking steps forward. Leaping. The pain in my leg was worse now. I could not place my weight on my right leg so the left did most of the work. Halfway through the hall to the stage, the alpha spoke again. “Get the drinks" My eyes widen. I was already far away from the table and my legs were burning within but I had no other choice. I had to go back and get it. With my leaping leg, I headed back to the table. “Faster!" the alpha yelled, making me shiver but picked up the pace A little quicker I got to the drinks and headed for the stage but slower. My legs were already swollen at the moment and since I had on a gown that was only knee length, everyone could see it. Halfway through the hall, I stumbled on something and came crashing down to the ground but I was quick to steady myself before the drinks in the tray came off the tray. If by any chance, it spilt, I would be instructed to lick it off any surface it fell or worse flogged. According to Mabel, she said it was decided to keep the servants in check but to me I saw that as cruelty and wickedness because that chair was put in front of me purposefully to make me get punished. I eventually got to the stage and gave a bow before ascending the stairs. Just like the first time, I headed for the alpha who as before did not look at me or the wine. “Drink it"
