Thinking of Goodall as Elisa's partner, Eve became so nervous that her breathing grew unsteady.
If he obeyed her awful sister, the upcoming situation would spin out of control. Would he reveal to Yellen that Eve was faking her identity?
"No way! I've known Goodall for years and never heard of any sister." Lillian's innocent words shattered the almost frozen air.
"I'm quite familiar with the Norman family. Maybe we've met before, like... at a ball?" Goodall smiled as he dropped his cuff, effectively letting Eve off the hook.
As the topic shifted, Eve breathed a sigh of relief. Although she wasn't naive enough to believe Goodall's words, she knew he didn't plan to expose her secret today.
"Yes, we met at a ball when you were with my sister." Eve seamlessly picked up the conversation.
