"So last time we began to talk about your dreams. Can you tell me what happens in them?" My therapist Tara said. Tara became my therapist about a month ago and is the only person so far I have opened up to. My parents are happy but honestly, I don't think this will help at all.
" I was laying in bed sleeping when I woke to blood-curdling screams. I sat up in my bed and listened but the screams were coming from outside, not in my home, so I got up and looked out the window. I was in a village like the ones you see in movies portraying the 1800's. Anyways the buildings were on fire, people were running and screaming but the soldiers were chasing and killing them. They were not your normal soldiers though." I stopped talking and closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"Emma it's okay breath in and out." She said with a calming voice. When I opened my eyes she handed me a bottle of water and I took a sip. "You okay?"
"Ya," I said. I felt shaky this was hard to talk about.
"Do you want to continue or move on?" She asked.
"Continue," I said and she nodded. "The soldiers were not normal. They were red with scales all over their bodies and they had a long tail and horns. When I saw one I gasped and moved away from the window. I heard the front door bust open and I hid under my bed. I knew the monster was coming but then I heard screaming and fighting and then nothing. Eventually, the screaming stopped but I did not move. And as the sun rose and set again I remained under my bed but the next morning I moved. I opened the door and there was blood splattered all over the walls. As I walked down the hallway I saw them." And I stopped talking and began to cry.
"Emma." But I did not respond.
"I don't know who they are but they mean so much to me," I said as I began to sob and the next thing I knew my world went dark.
"Emma wakes up." I heard my therapist say as she genitally shook me.
I opened my eyes and looked around. I was still in the office and Tara was standing in front of me. "What happened?"
"You passed out."
"Oh," I said and she handed me my water bottle and I took a couple of sips. "How long was I out?"
"About two minutes." She said as she began to write in her notepad. I just stared at her. "Emma I think today we made some great progress. When you have your dreams I want you to write them down and then next week will talk more about them."
"Ok. But what do you think they mean?" I asked.
"Something traumatic has happened to you and you have dreamed about them. Once we can break through those dreams we can unlock some of your memories. Once we do we can find out what happened to you and why you were left in a cornfield alone." She said.
You heard the lady right, yes I was found in a cornfield all alone. They are unsure of how I got there cause this corn farm was so large that the closest house was ten minutes away and I was in the center of the field. Not even close to the house. Well anyways all I knew was my name and doctors guessed I was about eight years old. But even though I have a name the only other thing I have been left with are these dreams. They have haunted me since I was found. I have no memory of who I was before being found.
I was found by one of the workers who happened to have been checking the crop. The look of shock on his face I will never forget.
The day Emma was found.
Paul's point of view
I was checking on the crops in the south field when I swore I heard someone crying. I began to head towards the sound and when I walked through the stalks of corn for about five minutes when I came face to face with a young girl. She was sitting on the ground with her knees pulled up to her face but what got me was that she was covered in blood.
"Sweetheart are you okay?" I asked her.
She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and blood smeared all over her face. "Where am I?" She asked.
"Are you hurt?" I asked her. There was so much blood. She shook her head no. "Ok sweetheart I need to call someone so they can help us." And she looked at me funny.
I pulled my walkie out of my pocket and clicked the button three times. "What's going on in my field Paul," Trevor said as he answered.
"Boss you ain't gonna believe this." But before I could say anything else he cut me off.
"Did the Kinloch boys get to my harvest again? Oh, milk and cookies I should have had those boys prosecuted."
"BOSS THERE IS A YOUNG CHILD IN THE FIELD COVERED IN BLOOD," I screamed into the phone.
"What?"
"I said there is a young girl out here covered in blood can you call the sheriff and get ems out here."
There was a silent pause. "Ah ya. I'm on my way."
I put the walkie down and looked at the child. She had pale skin that seemed to glow and her eyes were ice green colored. She was beautiful. Her hair had blood caked in it but I could tell it was sandy blond and wavy.
"Help is coming," I said to her she just looked at me like everything is new to her. "Do you have a name?"
"Emma."
"It's nice to meet you Emma I am Paul. How old are you?"
She turned her head to the side. "I am Emma."
That is weird I thought to myself. "How did you get here?"
And again she said, "I am Emma."
I stood there looking at Emma she had been through something traumatic. After about ten minutes of waiting I could hear the stocks being raddled. "Over here" I yelled. Not sure why I yelled that because each walkie has a GPS tracker on it.
"Paul you better not be pulling my chain cause of the sheriff " And he stopped talking when he came through the stalk and saw the young girl. "Holly Hannah." He said while looking at me.
"Her name is Emma and this is all she said. I didn't check her for any wounds she seems very confused." I said.
"Ok." He pulled his walkie out. "Chip has ems and the Sheriff take your mobile walkie." He said. "Who do you think did this?" He said. Trevor was in a state of shock.
I could hear the sirens in the distance. "Not sure boss but I think we need to comb the stalks."
He shook his head. "Ya, I'll um talk to the sheriff."
The sheriff and ems crew showed up five minutes later and were shocked as hell. As Bill the emt approached Emma and tried to touch her she began to scream bloody murder.
"Everyone here is a guy. Perhaps we should get mama Jo out here. She is stable."
"Good idea," Trevor said and pulled his walkie out. "Chip call over to the house and have mama Jo brought here right now."
"Yes, boss man."
As everyone stood there and talked Emma began to rock back and forth. "So much death. They are all dead." She said very softly.
"Did you hear that?" I said.
"What man," Bill said.
"Listen to her."
She was rocking faster now. "So much death. They are all dead. So much death. They are all dead."
"Something bad happened," I said.
"I am going to call the state troopers." The sheriff said and began to walk towards his vehicle.
We all stood there listening to her but she never said anything else besides So much blood. They are all dead. I am unsure of how long we stood there but mama Jo came through the stalks.
"What is all the fuss. Oh my." She said and walked up to Emma. She got down on her knees. "Hello Honey my name is Jo but folks around here call me mama Jo. What is your name?"
Emma stopped rocking and looked at mama JO. "I am Emma." She seemed almost robotic.
"Well, Emma would you like some food, fresh clothes, and a bath?"
"I am Emma." Is all she said.
"Ok Emma can you take my hand and come with me." Emma grabbed her hand and they began to walk away.
The spot Emma was sitting in looked weird. The soil was dug up and in a weird circle shape. I looked at the guys and they all had the same look. The soil was weird.
That was the last time I saw Emma. She was taken to the hospital and according to Mama Jo she had no injuries but was taken into the care of the state. I have tried to find out information on her but I have met with dead end after dead end.
