The doctor gave her a reassuring smile. “She’s stable now. We’ve managed to get her blood pressure under control, but she’ll need to stay here for a few days for observation.” Sophie let out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding. “Thank you, doctor. Can I see her?” The doctor nodded. “Yes, but only for a short while. She needs to rest.” Sophie and Lisa followed the doctor to Margaret’s room. The hospital room was sterile and stark, with white walls and linoleum floors that reflected the harsh fluorescent lights overhead.
