Lyric’s P.O.V
I woke up with a start at the sound of my alarm going off and groaned, covering both my ears with my hands. Damn it! New semester starts today and I’m gonna be late again. I yawned and sat up in my bed while rubbing the sleep from my eyes and then slammed my hand down on top of the annoying alarm clock, effectively cracking it in half. How many alarm clocks did I c***k this month again? I’ve lost count.
I heard a soft groan from behind me and looked back instantly in alert, only to find the girl I slept with last night snuggling deeper into my comforters. I sighed. I should’ve known better, I thought to myself, mentally preparing myself for what was about to come.
“Hey! Get up!” I said shaking her gently as I got up and put my boxers on.
She woke up slowly and sat up in my bed, letting the covers fall to her waist to expose her voluptuous form. She gave me a seductive smile but it vanished instantly as soon as she saw my expression. She was pretty, with shoulder length light brown hair and brown eyes but I don’t do girlfriends and I had already made it clear last night…which she obviously thought would change after I slept with her. “You need to go home, I have to get to college” I said firmly as I walked to my closet.
“Le-leave…b-but why?” she asked pathetically, tears forming in her eyes, which already had smudged liner on them. Now that I see it, she has too much makeup on and they made her look like her skin was melting.
“Because I need to get to college and you probably have school, kid!” I said as I chose which t-shirt to wear. At least I had maids to keep things clean or I’d be walking through a pile of garbage to even get out of my room. I wasn’t exactly into cleaning, a habit I was trying to change but to no avail, code word, trying.
“B-but I thought…” she trailed off, stuttering. Tears were probably streaming down her face by now and she was going to make a scene in a few minutes when she realized blackmailing me with tears wouldn’t get her anywhere.
“Look kid,” I spoke exaggerated, turning to face her. “I told you this yesterday before we f****d; I don’t do girlfriends. I warned you that this would mean nothing and you agreed. And don’t you dare give me bullshit about being drunk because I know very well that you weren’t! Or have you forgotten your little speech about how you’ve done this a million times and you don’t even plan on staying the night with me? Now get your s**t together and get out!” I yelled, losing my patience. Next time, I’ll remember to pen down an agreement make the girls f*****g sign it before we f**k! And if that makes be a bastard then so be it, but I was done with women thinking they could ‘fix’ the hotshot bad boy by sleeping with them.
I turned towards her and watched as her lips trembled and she quickly scrambled out of bed and dived for her clothes. After she had them on, she ran out of the room like she was being chased by hell hounds.
I sighed in relief and turned back to my closet, taking out a dark green t-shirt with some black denims and headed for the shower. I showered quickly and dressed in my chosen attire before running my hands through my short black hair to stop it from sticking straight up. It was cut really short so that no one can grab it during a fight but not so short that it looked like a military cut.
And yes, you heard it right. I did just say that I fight, and not just in street fight but also like boxing and hand-to-hand combat. I want to join Navy SEAL once I graduated college. I want to be just like my older brother, a strong and intelligent officer, or at least that’s what he was when he still had his legs. He lost them in a bombing accident, and then he was forced to quit. Now he works as a computer trainer and owns a gym that trains future officers or people who want a career in boxing and wrestling.
I took my phone and wallet on my way out and had a quick breakfast. The house staff had laid out two hard boiled eggs, a glass of orange juice and a buttered toast on the dining table for me and I devoured them in quick bites before gulping down the juice. Then I grabbed my keys and made my way out. My bike was already parked on my driveway so I got on and stared the engine. I was about to speed my way out the front gate when I noticed how the flower pots had been turned over and broken and were now lying in my way. “b***h!” I muttered under my breath and drove sideways, avoiding the sharp pieces from puncturing the tires and heading to college, leaving the gardeners to deal with the mess.
There were some advantages of being the son of two millionaires. My dad was a hotel magnet and my mom’s a hardcore lawyer with international clientele. I have no idea how that match even happened but it did and that was how my elder brother Derek and I were born. I don’t know who we picked after since both of our parents had a wild streak but us brothers wanted to do some good in the world, save lives and all that s**t. At least that’s what Derek had been in the navy for, but me? I just wanted the adrenalin rush.
Having difficult jobs had always kept our parents out of the house for long months at a time, they were hardly even home for the holidays and I’d been raised practically by nannies. Derek was ten years my senior so he had been off to college even before I had turned eight and then I had been all alone in this humongous mansion. But that’s been fine by me. I was used to being alone and it had given me all the freedom in the world.
When I reached the gates of Rosewater University, the college seemed oddly buzzed. There were students everywhere and there were plenty of new faces that I’d never seen before. But I wasn’t interested in the new faces as some of the boys in this college were. For them new sem meant new p*****s, for me it meant some stupid asshole would hear rumors about me and try to challenge me into a fight to prove whose d**k was bigger. I didn’t have time for such assholes, neither did I care when they crawled back home to their mommies with broken body parts.
I was currently in my second year of Uni, studying criminology. I know it was more on the science of why crimes happen and s**t, but I wanted to get into the heads of the criminals, know what they were thinking before they commit a crime. My mom often told me, whenever she was home at least, that there were many ways to prevent a crime from happening and some of it was done by convincing the criminal not to do it. It worked on the rare cases and it was one of the rarest speeches I’d ever got from my mother, so I’d taken it to heart.
Anyways, that’s what I was here for in college anyway. So I entered the Uni grounds and went to park my bike in the parking lot, in my usual spot. It was a spot reserved for me and everyone knew it, even the new kids had been warned, but today, I found a bicycle sitting on my spot, taking up my parking space.
“What the f**k!” I snapped at the bicycle. Who in their right f*****g minds would ever want to park in my space? Were they not warned?
I turned to look for the owner of the bike but one of the first year boys came rushing over to me instead. “I warned her!” The kid was telling me. “But she just wouldn’t listen. She said the space didn’t say reserved, nor did it have your name on it, so she parked anyway.”
“Did she now?” I smirked and killed the engine before getting off my bike. I walked over to the bicycle and was about to throw it out of the campus grounds when a female voice rang out over the buzz of gossip.
“Touch my bike and you’re dead.”
