Friday rolled around and I was feeling more settled. My first day seeing patients was Monday, and I felt ready. But first I was going to a fundraiser with Xavier. I was kind of excited about it because I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet people in my new hometown as well as get a better idea about Xavier and his character—the kind of man he was. I decided to wear a baby pink dress that came just below mid-thigh with a keyhole cut out in the back. Pink wasn’t my favorite color, but it complimented my skin tone, and the cut of this dress highlighted my figure. I wanted to look nice if I was going to meet half the town.
