Finally, because she felt on edge and it was impossible to relax, she peeped carefully out of the door to see that the corridor was empty and there was silence in the whole of the front of the house. Swiftly, with bare feet and putting nothing over her nightgown, she slipped into Rosebel’s room, which was only two doors away from hers.
