Chapter 18 It wasn’t like Dane had never sent a ghost on before. He’d hacked, burned, even shot them before, all without any guilt—they were already dead, after all. And yet he couldn’t get to sleep. He tossed back and forth, flipped his pillow, grunted at Sean each time the professor shoved him and grumbled. Dane’s mind didn’t think of anything, but it didn’t shut off, either. The times he fell asleep he woke with a start after too short an amount of time. He couldn’t tell if he was dreaming about the magical nexus wells or nothing at all, but he was too cold, and when Sean wrapped an arm around him, too sweaty.
