The following day she honestly thought she’d lost her mind as she felt there was another presence inside of her talking to her.
If that wasn’t a sign of lunacy, she didn’t know what was.
Fortunately, Sasha, her wolf was fierce and dominant and immediately took charge. She directed and guided Serena on how to shift and basically be a werewolf. She also filled her in on the world of supernatural beings.
Soon, however, Serena found herself being hunted. Apparently, it was illegal for a werewolf to turn a human without the council of Lycans’ approval.
Serena thought it was a bit unfair they’d targeted and wanted to eliminate her for something she’d had no say in or control over. No one ever mentioned what’d happened to the prick who’d turned her, who he was or why he’d done it.
They were all focused on killing her to keep their little secret… secret. As if it was her fault... her fault she was randomly selected by some freak of nature rogue wolf and attacked. As if it was her fault she'd survived said attack.
Eventually, she was forced to run away from home to protect her grandmother.
She’d spent the first year after being turned, hiding and keeping a very low profile – terrified of being found.
Things changed when Sasha explained the werewolf hierarchy and how as an alpha it was against her nature to run and hide from problems. She convinced Serena to train and get stronger so they could stand their ground. They deserved to live and no one should try and take that away from them.
After years of training, fighting and killing werewolves who came after her, Serena approached the council. It was Sasha’s suggestion for them to appeal to the council for clemency. It was granted under the condition that they are accepted into a pack. Failure to do so, they were obligated to end their existence. Serena had eagerly agreed. She hadn’t fully comprehended the gravity of her plight. She was a turned wolf – a minority, someone who was looked down upon and shunned by the werewolf community. They’d yet to find a pack that was willing to welcome them with open arms. A few of the packs had allowed them to join for a probationary period. However, things very quickly went sideways when fellow pack mates discovered their originals and the taunts began. Serena was more chilled about it but Sasha could not abide being insulted.
Ultimately they left a trail of bloodied wolves in their wake.
