William was really coming to like this town.
He was walking down the side of the road with Mate, and it was sunny, warm, and downright peaceful. The trees and grass were so green, the sky was blue but for a few small clouds in the sky, and Mate seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself as he ran through the grass near the road, just a big black blur with a pink tongue hanging out.
When he`d first spotted Mate back at the house, he'd started to return to Anthony with the animal, but the housekeeper, Agnes, had stopped him to say that Anthony told her he wanted William to take Mate instead.
William hadn`t even been surprised. That man really didn`t seem to want to go anywhere.
