Rogue- Mason
It was good to be alone.
To just think, without someone bugging me with their constant chatter.
How long had it been since I had even a moment of myself? Months.
Too long.
I let my mind wander as I walked, my feet sinking into the white sand as the warm turquoise waters lapped against my ankles. This was pure bliss but somehow it didn’t help. I felt empty.
Losing Olivia, even though she wasn’t our mate had left a void in my chest. It wasn’t even that I had been in love with her. But I could. I was sure I would have grown to love her as more than a friend if she has just chosen us.
Maybe that was the real reason I felt this way? Because she had rejected us.
Maybe my pride was hurt more than anything else. I had always been rather vain.
“Hey.”
Aden’s voice spoke from behind my left shoulder . Strange because I hadn’t even sensed his approach.
We were broken as well. I should have been able to sense him. He was my mate. “Hey.” I replied , I didn’t turn to him instead I gazed out at the ocean. That seemingly endless stretch of blue green water. There was a dotting of boats towards the horizon. Laughter coming from them. It made me smile.
At least some one was happy and enjoying their holiday.
“I don’t want to fight.” Aden’s voice was soft as he slipped his hand into mine. Squeezing hard as I turned to him , I let my eyes search his face. “I don’t want to fight either.” I admitted. “I just don’t know if we can …..”
He pressed his finger to my lips. Silencing me. “We will get through it together. You just got to start believing your own words Mason. We will find our third. And then we will wonder why we were so besotted with Liv.” His eyes darted to the water. And I knew he didn’t believe his own words. He was just putting a brave face on it, same as I was. “You believe that?”
“I have to.” He stepped into my space. His chest naked and tanned and I let my eyes linger on him. “Otherwise I will go crazy.”
“I don’t think I want a third anymore.” Something crackled between us. It was like the air changed. Becoming heated. Just like it had that first night I had seen him. When we had come together is a tangle of hands and tongues. “Can’t we just be us? Just the two of us?”
His blue eyes darkened. “Do you think we would be happy like that?” He sounded genuinely curious and I knew he had been thinking about it as well. Taking our relationship to the next level.
Being truly intimate.
“I think…. I think we should at least spend some time together just the two of us and see what the hell happens.” I pulled his towards me roughly, and his chest was hot against mine.
“No women?” His lips hovered over mine. But it was me that made that final move. I wanted to be happy. And I wanted to make my mate happy. Aden was my mate.
“Only if we can have her together.” I chuckled as his lips quirked upwards. He liked the sound of that.
He more than liked the idea of a woman between us and I had to admit I did as well.
“I wanna f**k a woman with you.” He admitted. “I want to please you as well…”
“I want that. I just have one condition.” My tongue slipped into his mouth. And he kissed me back eagerly. The feel of his hard body against me making my c**k throb and twitch. “No woman ever comes between us again. We share them but no talk of mates. From now on it’s just me and you.”
I don’t know what made me pull away. It wasn’t like I wasn’t enjoying the feel of his tongue in my mouth and his lips on mine. Sure it was different to kissing a woman. There was nothing soft about Adens body.
Nothing at all.
It was different but it didn’t feel wrong. In fact it felt very very right. So right in fact I was eager to get him somewhere alone so I could see what else felt right between us.
Dragging my lips away, I turned my face away. Eyes searching the ocean.
”Mason?” his voice was breathy with need, need I felt as well. But I didn’t turn back to him. I could feel him pressing against me, thick and swollen but I didn’t turn back.
Something was wrong.
Something out there in the ocean.
My skin erupted into goosebumps. Aden’s hands sweeping up my arms as I shivered.
Something was really really wrong.
”What is it?” Aden turned with me, his eyes sweeping the blue expanse of water.
So he could feel it too.
The shift in the air.
”There.” He pointed and I followed the line of his arm.
You could barely see the figure but it was obvious who ever it was, was in trouble. They kept bobbing in and out of the water.
It was only then that I heard the screams.
”I think they are drowning.” He made towards the water and I stopped him. ”Get help, I’ll go. I’m a faster swimmer.”
Without waiting for his answer I crashed I to the waves. I couldn’t shift but I didn’t need to. Even in my human form I was better than even the best human swimmer.
The woman had sank beneath the surface when I reached her, and it was only my ability to dive that got me to her in time. Arm around her waist I headed back to the shore and the small gathering of people that were waiting.
Aden had got the help I had asked him to get which was good because the woman in my arms was going to need medical attention.
“Here.” I stumbled from the water, “out of the way.” Falling to my knees I laid her on the sand.
“Is she breathing?” Someone said.
Shit, I hadn’t checked. Lowering my head I pressed my ear against her chest. A sigh of relief escaping my lips as I realised she was.
“She’s waking up.” Aden was on the other side of her. His hands hovering.
It was only then that I actually looked at her. She was young.
Young and god damn beautiful.
Huge brown eyes fluttered open and for a second our gaze met.
My siren screamed, a million different colours flashed behind my closed lids as the smell of salt water attacked my system. The sound of storm waves assaulted my ears.
I stumbled back, landing on my ass.
Aden just sat there shell shocked.
Shaking my head furiously I climbed to my feet. “No.” I almost yelled it. “No f*****g way. I can’t do this again.” Without looking back I ran.
I just needed to get away.
Because I couldn’t do this again.
