Chapter Five

Rogue – Mason They looked good together , standing side by side in the moon light. They looked like a beautiful young couple. And the way Aden’s eyes drifted over her when he thought she wasn’t looking? I could already tell he was head over heels. He had been willing to tie himself to Olivia for life but he had never looked at her like he was looking at Daisy. And I was jealous. Jealous that they were sharing this moment without me. Which was absurd because I had no interest in having feelings for another woman , not for a very long time. If ever. I caught Aden’s eye, even in the darkness he had known I was there. He hadn’t said anything though. He had been patiently waiting for me to make myself known. Aden was good like that. Detaching myself from the wall , I stalked towards them just in time for Daisy to say how she ended up in the water to begin with. “He sounds like a moron.” I crossed my arms on that balcony rail with a sigh. She giggled like a school girl, and it sounded like a tinkering brook over rocks. Musical and beautiful. It was like a searing pain across my heart and I closed my eyes. Being this close to her was dangerous. Not just for me but for Aden as well. We couldn’t risk our hearts again. Especially for a human girl… no woman. I corrected myself. Daisy Malone was no girl. I knew Aden would be happy I was here but I hadn’t come to give her a chance to hurt us. I had come to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid and fall for her. Or even worse give her the mark. That would be disastrous. “I’m glad you could make it.” Her voice was like silk. Seductive but it wasn’t like she was trying. It was totally unintentional. Which just made it even more intoxicating. “Would you like to come in and meet my family?’g father would very much like to thank you in person.” Turning my head slowly, I met her eyes. “I’m Not really one for meeting dad’s Miss Malone. That’s more Aden’s area of expertise.” I meant it to sound joking but it just came out bitter. Not that Daisy let it faze her. “Please call me Daisy. All my friends do and I hope we will become good friends.” She pursed her lips and my eyes fixed on them. The bottom one was pouty, full compared to her top one. I could clearly imagine myself sucking it into my mouth. “Daisy.” Her name felt right in my mouth. Like candy floss. Fluffy and sweet. I felt drunk just saying it. It was intoxicating. “Yes?” She smiled and I felt the ice around my heart begin to melt. I took a step back. I couldn’t let this happen. “Why don’t I go and make small talk with your parents for a few minutes Daisy? Give you and Mason time to get to know each other.” I sent him a warning look. Pleading with my eyes for him not to leave me with her. She was barely five foot , a tiny young woman and I was terrified. “I’ll try and swipe a bottle on my way out.” Aden winked. “It’s very beautiful here isn’t it?” Daisy’s voice was small and I turned to her. The tropical paradise paled in comparison to her but I didn’t tell her that. Instead I said. “Yeah it is.” I knew she was trying to make small talk to fill the silence. She had obviously been brought up well and with impeccable manners. “Mason….” she touched my arm with her finger tips. It wasn’t even a proper touch but it was like a thousand bolts of electricity flowed through me. I felt my eyes bleed to black. Thank the heavens it was dark and she wouldn’t be able to see. But that wasn’t the only problem I had. It felt like my body was on fire from her one simple touch. “You and Aden make a beautiful couple?” I frowned as I turned fully to face her. “What do you mean by that?” She blushed, my keen eyes picked up the rising colour instantly. “Nothing, nothing bad just that you make quite the pair when you are together. And Aden seems super nice…” she was flustered. And for a second I was confused. What was she talking about? “You are very lucky to have each other.” “Yes I am very lucky.” I admitted. Because without Aden I would not have gotten through Olivia’s rejection. “Wait?” I couldn’t help myself, my fingers slid across her hip. “You think me and Aden are gay?” “You’re not?” She sounded mortified. Embarrassment making her cheeks flame red. “Oh my god I am sorry. I feel like such a fool.” “We are together but.” I wanted to say we both like you but I bit it back. Instead I lowered my head. My lips hovering over hers. This was absolute madness but I just couldn’t help myself. I wanted to see if she tasted as sweet as she looked. Daisy didn’t move away, her face tilted upwards. Like she wanted me to kiss her. Like she was waiting for it. “We like girls.”
