I couldn’t believe I found myself in the room with the Council of Elders yet again to discuss the same matter. It shouldn’t even have been a discussion. Rhett was right. Zaiyree was my mate, and this was not a matter others had a right to have a say in.
“Thank you for meeting with us again.” Rose began the meeting the moment I sat down. The other council members and Rhett had already been in the room, waiting for me to arrive. Thankfully, Vivi wasn’t here this time. I didn’t need another voice against me in this matter.
“Let’s make this quick.” I had already wasted enough time discussing my private life with others. I wasn’t in the mood to keep discussing it.
“I hope we can have a civil conversation this time.” Cairo watched me closely, as if he was expecting a rise out of me.
