Kyra is running in the woods. Her paws pounded the ground. She is yelling at herself for having fallen asleep. The Wind Pack had been expanding, and she knew sooner or later she was going to end up in their territory. Their boundary had finally expanded far enough that she was almost caught.
Moving through the trees, she recognized each one as she moved. The problem was that she wasn't paying close enough attention. This landed her right in the Trinity Pack borders. The sounds of her persuers died down, but she could feel more eyes staring at her. The trees and grass were now foreign to her. Unrecognizable.
Growls erupted from all around her. Thinking quickly, she headed north. Pushing her muscles to move faster. If caught, she would likely be killed. Alpha Titan hated rouges. She had heard the stories of his unforgiveable nature.
Her lungs filled with air as she pushed harder. Her new persuers weren't far behind her. She just had to get to the border.
Arenaline filled her veins and helped her to push harder. The wolves following her were all of higher rank. She could feel their aura pulsing in the air. They tried to get her to stop, but she fought it. The pain was nearly breathtaking. She couldn't stop.
Breaking through the trees, she could feel she was almost there.
As she neared the border, one of the wolves latched onto her hind leg. Throwing her, and she could feel a sickening crack.
A whelp left her snout, but she kept fighting. It was one wolf. Its eyes pierced hers, and she saw it pause. This gave her the opportunity she needed. Getting up was almost unbearable, but she managed.
Using whatever she has left, she ran. Pain screaming at her each time her back paw met the earth.
Falling over the border, she looked back. There stood 5 wolves. Their auras pulsing past the border. Clouding her mind. Consciousness was failing. The pain in her leg was nearly unbearable. Dragging herself slowly away, she laid beneath a nearby tree. This land was deserted and claimed by no one. She had to protect herself against other rouges, but her body was failing.
Beta Jaylon stood there watching as the girl lost consciousness. Quickly turning back to her human form. Blood covered the skin of her leg. Her wound was wide open.
"Beta Jaylon you had better have a good f*****g reason for letting her go." Alpha Titan growled through the mind link.
"I'm sorry, but something keeps telling me not to hurt her. In fact, I feel a desperate need to protect her."
"What?" He barked.
Jaylon stood there in stock as he looked at the girl.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, but I can't hurt her."
Alpha Titan was about to lunge at Beta Jaylon for refusing an order, but Delta Nathan spoke.
"Alpha, I feel it too."
He looked around and rolled his eyes.
"Beta, get her out of my sight. Get her somewhere and come back, but you need to figure out who she is. If she has the intention of invading your minds to turn you, I need to know who I'm killing."
Jaylon simply nodded.
He carefully crept across the border and to her tired body.
Carefully moving, he moved towards town. He almost had her to an inn, but she was starting to wake up.
Laying her beneath another tree, he watched from behind a bush as she woke up.
Quickly looking around, she got up and limped her way to the inn. Werewolves were used to being naked. It wasn't uncommon to see one walking through the streets. In this town, werewolves were not allowed to be in wolf form. It was how they kept some of the peace. It was a neutral zone.
Jaylon followed her as she entered the inn. Standing by the door, he could hear her talking with the night manager. They were full but offered to let her stay in the barn.
She accepted and limped her way behind the building.
Going up the ladder to the loft was slow and painful.
Once there, she found a bed of straw laying out for one of the many animals that was housed here. Being that it was a warmer night, the animals were sleeping about the land.
Shifting back, she laid her wolf down. This position would give her an advantage. She could see who was coming and going and hide if need be.
The way the wolf had looked at her gave her pause. Something about him seemed welcoming, but she knew she couldn't trust it. It was the bite. It was driving her mad.
Down below, Jaylon watched as she settled herself in and was quickly back to sleep.
She was unlike anything he had ever seen. He could tell she was powerful, but he couldn't understand why she chose to live as a rouge.
Settling in the corner of the bar, he closed his eyes. His wolf kept watch for him as his human side slept.
The following morning, he heard someone opening the door. His eyes instantly awake. Watching the man as he came in. The wolf girl was wide away and watching as well. He did worry because she wasn't supposed to be shifted, but he understood why.
Human skin can be delicate, and sleeping on hay would have been hell.
Once the man was gone, Jaylon relaxed.
"What do you want?" She asked.
Jaylon was startled by the sudden voice.
"I am.... I am here to help you." He admitted.
"I don't need help." She barked.
"I think you do." He gave her a raised eye brow. "How about we start with introductions? My name is Jaylon. What's yours?"
"You don't need my name." The defiance was evident in her voice.
"Okay, well then... girl... why don't we go eat?"
"I'm not eating anything here. I will find food."
She started to come down the ladder but fell as she still had the open wound.
Jaylon ran to catch her. She landed safely in his grip. She stared at him with so much anger and hatred.
"Let. Go. Of me." She gritted out.
He could tell she was in a lot of pain. Her skin was coated in sweat. Her heart was pumping hard. Her breathing was uneven.
The feeling washed over him again. Something telling him to protect her.
