James’s point of view
I hesitated outside Ace and Ava's door, unsure if I should interrupt whatever they were engaged in.
Kane's voice echoed in the back of my mind, urging me to enter. "Get your ass in there. Ava is our mate, too," he growled.
I was still anxious. I wanted to complete the mate bond, but Ava was with her other mate, Ace. What if I walked in on them naked? I wasn't sure if it would upset them.
"But maybe they need this time alone. I don't want to risk upsetting the Alpha or Luna. I'm their Beta," I laughed nervously, attempting to reason with Kane.
Once mated, though, I wouldn't just be Ava's Beta in our relationship.
"Quit being a coward and just go in," Kane insisted, giving me the push I needed. I reached for the doorknob and realized it wasn't locked.
