Chapter 12: A drunk Tennessee. Paxton had plans to get his cell phone back from Mary-Jo, but the woman was wily. He danced with her, chatted, ate ribs, and met her girlfriends. By the time he got his phone, it was already one in the morning. He swore that Mary-Jo was some kind of witch. He didn't even know where the night had gone. All the while Paxton spent with Mary-Jo, he kept an eye on Tennessee. At first, Paxton thought he might get a chance to talk to the man a second time. After the first hour at the bar, Paxton gave up on that idea. The man sometimes stared at him and sometimes looked away like Paxton had hurt him deeply.
