Chapter 36: The mountain house.
When they pulled up to the mountain house, Kit looked out the window of his brother's flashy, expensive Escalade. He was trying his hardest to see what the house looked like in the dark. Beyond the rainy window was nothing but a glimpse of trees and blackness. And this wasn't just any kind of dark. This area around the mountains was total nothing, not even a streetlamp.
"This is it?" Kit asked as his eyes swung to Frank sitting across from him and to Kit's full-time assistant, Dara.
"This is the house." Frank nodded. "It's a little dark in the mountains." He looked out the window at nothing as well. "But you can see the stars at night."
"And you wanted a place with peace and quiet." Dara didn't look outside but stared at her phone as was her norm. "I'm
