Chapter 15

(Unknown POV) I was standing in the shadows at the back of the great hall. I hated these events, I hated these people, and most of all I hated this pack. In the four years since I had been assigned to the Blackstone Pack my hatred had only grown stronger. They acted all high and mighty with the fake Alpha King sitting on his throne of lies everyday.  But I had to push aside my hatred, I had to ensure my trust in the pack. I had a mission, a duty. I was here to watch. Watch for weaknesses in the defences, and more importantly watch to make sure the curse ran its course. I had to make sure that that pigheaded Alpha heir Hunter didn’t complete the mate bond.  They had gotten close once, he had a girlfriend, not his fated mate but that didn’t matter. We had taken care of it of course. Made sure that opportunity had disappeared. That's why I was sent in as a spy so I could keep a close eye, of course it didn’t help that the son of a b*tch was away all the time.  But there was a whole different security detail following them. I once asked why we didn’t just kill the Alpha brat. I was told just killing him wasn’t enough, they had to suffer, not just the lying Alpha and his b*tch of a wife but everyone who stood loyal to them, and in turn dared to stand against the rightful Royal Blood Stone pack. I was curious about tonight though. It had been a last minute set up. Something about some new pack member. It had been a while since there had been an outsider brought in. But for some reason this one was important. What was more curious was that she had arrived with her parents but given a different rank, they had been assigned omega rank, lowest of the low well apart from rogues. So the acceptance ceremony was just for her.  I watched as Alpha and his Luna appeared on stage and the crowd went quiet. The Alpha was rattling off some crap about loyalty, I huffed, what did he know about loyalty. Then they brought the girl out on stage. She looked terrified, I mean she looked beautiful, but she still looked terrified. The green dress she was wearing on her small but curvy frame seemed to enhance her pale skin giving it a translucent glow. And her red hair seemed to add to the effect making her almost alien like in her beauty. I watched transfixed as her deep red lips moved although at this point my mind was blocking out any words, what I wouldn’t do have my hands fisted in that hair and to see those lips around my hard-. Whoa! What the f**k, where the hell did that image come from. Oh sh*t, was she my mate? Finding a mate in the very pack I despised would complicate matters. I would have reject her of course, that or make her leave, come back with me to Blood Stone.  I hesitated before I sniffed the air for that tell tale sign that my mate was in the room, that sweet delectable scent that every wolf, no matter how cruel and hateful, craved to find.  Nothing! I sniffed a second time just to be sure. Nope nothing, I felt instant relief, but also regret. Still even though she wasn’t my mate, I still felt the urge to take her and protect her, and covet her as my own. I shook my head, what the f**k is wrong with me. “I announce Cassandra Waters formerly of the Silver Lake pack now bound by blood to the Black Stone pack, I ask if her mate is here to step forward and make himself known” Wait! What was that? I was pulled out of my daze all of a sudden, Silver Lake pack? Why did that sound familiar? I know the different major player packs across the country right down to the Rose Stone pack down in London. But Silver Lake didn’t even follow the tradition of being named after Crystals. So why did Silver Lake sound familiar? Oh Sh*t! Then it hit me! I know where I’ve heard of them, Alpha Julian, and the one true Alpha, that was the pack he was obsessed with.  Apparently they associated with witches if I remember correctly but then they were wiped out almost twenty years ago. The few remaining survivors went into hiding and Alpha Julian has spent the last almost twenty years searching for them. He was adamant that they were the key to seizing the Royal title.  The ceremony had finished and the lights had dimmed ready for the party to start. I weaved my way through the crowd and out into the night. I found a quiet spot and pulled out my phone. I switched on the app that hid your phone activity and then dialled the number I knew by heart. The phone rang a few times before the familiar irritated high pitched voice of my alpha answered “what? This better be good for you to disturb me when I’m fu-“  “Boss” I interrupted “I have something that might be of interest to you“ ***** (Julian Tainter’s POV) I closed the phone to my little spy in the Black Stone pack with a wide grin. I knew it, that was him last week. Alpha James of the Silver Lake pack. Part of me was impressed, he had stood up to hours and hours of torture and still hadn’t broken, still not revealed the location of the remaining members of his pack. He even denied being who he was enough that I almost started to think that we had got the wrong guy. Yes that impressed me. But I was also p*ssed off. I had him and his damn pack so close and yet Alpha f**king Stephen Black had swooped in and stolen my sh*t again! First Melissa and now this pack.  Well it looks like we will have to pay a visit to Black Stone real soon. I know the girl that the scout was talking about, it was her! I knew it, I could feel it. I jumped up from my chair and marched down the corridor. I opened the door to my sons bedroom and immediately found him entangled in two or three she-wolf sl*ts.  “Jackson” I shouted in my Alpha voice. He looked up at me, not stopping what he was doing “what dad, can’t you see I’m busy?” “Out now” I bellowed at the girls and they all jumped up screaming and ran out of the room “low blow dad” Jackson scoffed. I grinned “oh this is worth it” he looked at me seemingly unimpressed but I knew that would change at my next words. “Son, I’ve found your Queen”
