Knock...knock...knock Pete came inside my office after a series of knocks."Ma'am, your mother is on the phone, said it's very important that she needs to talk to you." I glance at him when I heard him say the word mother. I let out a long sigh, I've been avoiding my mother as far as I could. "I'll take it from here", and wave Pete out of the room. "Mrs. Grant what can I do for you?" I said to my mother after taking the call from my office line, never bothering to greet her with any pleasantries . "Kendra, your Father had an accident last night and was rushed to the hospital. I'm asking you if you could give him your spare time and visit him. Right now he's in a state of coma." sadness can be heard from her. l know she is so worried. "I know you hate and don't want to see us but we are still your parents, and we love you" she adds after a minute of silence. I don't hate my parents but I never bother correcting her. "I'll try but can't promise you," I mumble after a short while. "I hope that you can come, sweetie." "Hmmm, I gotta go I have a meeting in 10 minutes, bye." I put the phone back in its cradle without waiting for her reply Knowing that my father is in a critical condition is eating up my conscience. I've been away for to long, Almost 10 years to be exact, my mother is always trying to communicate with me but I always avoided her, hearing her voice sometimes makes me so weak and vulnerable. They remind me of the heartache I've endured for to long and still trying to overcome.
