Alec POV
The day my parents died; I was not sad about it. They were not parents at all. I left as soon as I turned 16.
Ethan, Ace, and Mello decided to all move out and get an apartment together. It was Ethan’s idea, His parents abused him and his kid sister. It was horrific.
He had to leave her while we searched for a place that would accommodate all of us. The day we went back to the house. It was completely trashed,
Their parents were nowhere to be found. Lily was hiding in a closet. She was unconscious and we called the police who brought an ambulance. She was malnourished, and severely dehydrated.
The police tried to search for them but came up empty. They put the two of them in protective custody to try to catch them.
They were never caught.
Growing up, I protected her from everything bad. She always called me her Sunshine. When she told me, I was taken back. I thought why she is calling me this. I am a man.
She said that she came up with the nickname because I was her sunshine, I made her happy. My heart. She was adorable.
I had to think of nickname for her as well. So, I came with ‘Flower’. It was perfect. She was my little flower.
Through the years, she was stuck to my side like glue. Not that I was complaining, it was nice to have her around.
Now I am sitting here, in an office because I had business to take care of. The boys and I run an underground business; we also help the police who are in the same business we are in.
We catch the bad guys and they look the other way when trouble starts.
It was not the best work. But it paid well and if I could protect flower. Then I was willing to put my life on the line.
I think about her all the time. I wonder what she is up to, if she is doing ok, if she made any friends.
She was such a bright girl. She shut herself off from the world and went into a deep depression. I tried to be there for her as she was going downhill, but she pushed me away every time.
I did not get mad or upset. I sat back and was there when she needed me.
After that time, once again she was stuck to my side. I did not mind one bit. I helped her and in return she helped me.
I was coming back soon.
Everything was almost set; I would be back just before classes were supposed to start. I have been taking them online. So, I would not be left behind.
There was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” I said. Sitting up straight in my chair.
“Well, we’ve looked over the file and all of the assets. It seems your late grandfather had left you money and a couple of other establishments. It also seems like your parents had tried to access it a few time. One of them being recently.” The attorney said.
I nodded my head.
“Figures…” I said more to myself.
“Now, I just need you to sign a few things, and you can be on your way. We will transfer those funds to you and then you can be on your way.” He said. I sighed.
This has been going for months and its finally over. I should be able to leave by next week.
I signed everything. The both of us stood up and shook hands.
“Nice doing business with you.” He said and I was the first to leave the room.
I wanted to get home and shower and start packing.
The sooner I was out of here the better. This place made me itch.
Not in a way as though something was wrong with the bed sheets or because I did not shower.
No, the moment I got to this place. I felt as though someone was watching my every move.
I could not tell anyone. My gut instinct told me not to.
I sucked it up and dealt with it. They did not break in or steal anything from me and I was not trying to hide either.
I got in the house and immediately stripped everything and went to the bathroom to the shower.
The hotter the water, the better it felt. I stood under the water and just thought about everything. Today will be the day I make changes.
I quickly got out and dressed and went to my room and pulled out my phone. Sitting it on top of the bed.
I just stared at it…
And stared at it…
And stared at it…
I could not do it. She probably does not even remember me. She probably moved on.
No! I told myself. Just call her.
I started to get cold feet. What the hell is wrong with me.
I grabbed my phone and dialed her number.
“Here goes nothing…” I said to myself.
It rang a few times and then she picked up. Her voice was like honey, so sweet and smooth.
Then it dawned on me that I have not said anything yet.
“Hey Flower…” I started out. I honestly was not expecting her to react the way she did.
She started crying, like full on bawling her eyes out. I tried to get her to stop but she continued.
Just then someone else picked up the phone.
“Hello! Who is this!?” The voice said. I automatically knew it was Ethan.
“Ethan its me.” I said, he let out some swear words.
“Dude we haven’t heard from you in months and now you decide to call!” He yelled at me. I do not blame him though.
“I will tell you all about it when I can. I just really want to talk to Flower.” I said.
“You better tell me, or so help me I will beat you to the ground.” He said. There was a bit of shuffling and then silence.
“Are you there Flower?” I asked. I really did not know what to say.
“Sun-Sunshine?” She said quietly. I could have melted right then and there.
“Yes, my beautiful flower. Its me. I am so sorry that I’ve been gone for so long.” I said. I started to tear up.
“Sunshine… Its ok.” She said. There was a wave of relief that came over me.
“I will be back in a few days ok? Then we can spend all the time you want together.” I said, only hoping that she would want to.
“I would really like that Sunshine.” She said. We talked a little bit longer but had to hang up because it was getting late. We said our goodbyes.
I sat there and just thought how I could not wait.
I knew I would spoil her. I would give her everything and anything she wanted.
I smiled and fell asleep happy and content.

Wow!! I am so sorry for not updating sooner. Just a lot going on and the urge and motivation to write has not been there. I do not want to force myself. But I am working on the next chapter! Please stay tuned.
Thank you!
