Troubled Freya

"Freya! Please! Wait!" he called out to me and I hesitated, unsure as to whether I should stop or keep running. I decided to stop and turned to face him.

"What?"

"Why are you running away from me?" he asked. I wanted to pull the hair from my head and scream at the top of my lungs.

"Don't you understand? Don't you see it? We can never be together!" I shouted at him. I hated hurting him, I hated it. His toffee eyes shone in the moonlight and I knew he was on the verge of tears. I felt my heart break but I knew it was the right thing to do. We could never continue like this.

"Alright Freya," he said before walking away. I stood there, under the stars, in the middle of the forest and cried. I cried for my mate and I cried for my lover.
