5 The Hidden Underground The dark path ahead twisted deeper into the earth, lit only by a small lantern in Harken’s hand. The kindly gentleman led Dorian’s party onward with a slight limp, favoring his left, and a satisfied smile froze across his face. The sounds of dripping water and screeches of flapping bats resonated throughout the cave. Dain shielded his head. “Flying rats,” he whimpered. “They’re just bats, Dain,” Dorian said, unbothered by the nocturnal flappers. “Where are we?” Kara asked. “My crew and I got lost in these woods after a fight with The Baron’s forces eight years ago.
