By the time Matt was ready to leave for work, Vic sat at the dining room table, half-dressed—work pants with a V-neck undershirt and no socks or shoes—and working on his second cup of coffee. The morning’s paper was open on the table in front of him, but he was more intent on his plate of eggs and sausage than he was the daily news. Matt cut through the kitchen, gym bag in one hand, Sadie’s leash in the other. The dog trailed behind him obediently; he’d drop her off at doggy day care on his way to work. When he reached Vic, he leaned down and planted a wet kiss on the top of his lover’s shaved head. “See you.” “Wait.” Vic caught the back of Matt’s T-shirt and tugged gently to keep him from going anywhere.
