He was tidying the room after the morning session. Sylvia had swept off on an overnight trip to London for a lecture at the Royal Free Hospital and he thought Lucy had gone for a ride. That left him to deal with the police. Bugger and damnation. Walt had a natural disinclination to interact with any aspect of the authorities now he wasn’t in the army any longer and not being paid for it. And that policeman—he was…unsettling. Saw too much.
