Ivy’s POV
I must have been more tired than I realised because I didn’t even remember closing my eyes, but when a rooster's crow forced my eyes open the next morning, I realised I had. We never made it up to the cots yesterday, preferring to just lay on the soft straw together after we both had our fill of each other. We both needed to reconnect after what had happened yesterday. It had been a real shock to the system.
I knew I should walk away from him to keep him safe, maybe leave in the middle of the night while he was sleeping, but I also knew Vlad. When he would come after me if I ever tried to leave, I knew he was a man of his word. Plus, if I was honest with myself, I doubt I could leave him. My heart would break without him at my side.
