Chapter 7.

Chapter 7. Rebecca and Alisha stood in the long line of human tourists waiting to enter Kronborg Castle. Outside was a large stone statue of the infamous Holger Danske, sitting on an old throne, his shield by his side with his head bowed, looking as if he was asleep, yet still poised ready to strike if needed. Hendrick smiled, as they finally entered the old castle, his voice echoing around the old stones that the building was made from. “Every Danish child knows the story of Holger Danske, who sleeps in the casemates of this very castle. Legend tells us that he will remain asleep until the day Denmark is under a real attack, and then he will awake, and save us all,” Hendrick began. Alisha and Becca nodded their heads. They were already aware of this part of the legend, regarding Alisha’s ancestor. “The legend was originally believed to have come from France, and in a way, this is true,” Hendrick continued. “You see, being a strong Alpha werewolf, Holger had lived for hundreds of years. He had, however, moved from place to place when questions arose about his lack of aging. So he had spent time in France before arriving in Denmark. However, he was born in our country and is a Danish werewolf. Holger was a strong Alpha and won every battle he led, his name alone struck fear into his enemies. What the humans did not know, is that his Beta and Gamma faked his death. However, the fear that he had left Denmark unprotected swept through the land, so they told everyone that he was sleeping, and would awake again when he was most needed. The reality was, that Holger had boarded a longboat, and traveled across the North Sea, as part of the band of Vikings who wished to settle in England,” Henrick continued the story, but so far, it was nothing that Alisha had not uncovered, thanks to Becca’s brother, Prince Hamish. “He had one mate. However, she was unfaithful to him, and he rejected her before leaving for England. I believe he settled in Edensor and formed your original pack, Alisha,” Hendrick again flashed his winning smile that would have any Hollywood director salivating at the mouth, knowing all the women and some men would rush to see him on the silver screen. “What about our legend, that he was unfaithful, and therefore he would die and come back as a female Alpha, that would rule the werewolf world, as a punishment for his crime against his mate?” Alisha asked. “He was a handsome werewolf, who had been hurt by his mate. He was also a Viking warrior. It is true, he would have had many women beneath him. However, I do not know about reincarnation. It is not something we believe in. But, Fredrick has more information than I do, in the Alpha and Royal vaults that may shed more light on that,” Henrick nodded at Alisha. They continued their tour of the large castle, climbing up to the top of one of the four towers that sat on the corners of the impressive building. “In WW11, when Denmark was invaded, the resistance was named after him, as the people rose up to defend our country from Nazi rule,” Hendrick continued on about how much Holger meant to the Danes, and how they honoured him. As interesting as that part of human history was, it was not really the information Alisha needed. Becca let out a low sigh. It was clear to her that the real information that had been hidden from the humans was locked away, and only the Crown Prince Tit avoider could access it. As they wandered around the old castle, her mind wandered, to what it would have been like if Fredrick had brought them instead of Hendrick. She wondered if Alisha would get the information she craved and needed to know. The thought of Fredrick sent a shiver through her body, instantly hitting between her legs. Becca let out an annoyed huff, not understanding why she was having this reaction to a man, especially one who had behaved as he had. It was weird, strange, and more than a little frustrating. Her mind wandered to the night before, as she had laid in her bed, unable to sleep, haunted by the memory of Fredrick’s blue eyes, his dark blonde hair, and the muscle definition that had her salivating. She was annoyed at herself, as she remembered pulling out her pink bunny, pleasuring herself to thoughts of Fredrick, and it had been the best release of her life, she could never deny that. But that fact only angered her more, the man had behaved in a ridiculous manner, all over a flash of boob, and she could never be interested in someone who was so far up his own arse that he thought speaking to her as if she were beneath him was his given right. She could not even blame the mate bond for her current state of lust-filled thoughts. Fredrick was not her mate, but what was even more strange, was Maggie’s reaction to him. It was as intense as her own. Her wolf had, just like Becca, rejected all thoughts about men, or mates, being equally as hurt as she was with their experience of meeting the one allegedly fated for her. But, Maggie had her own lust-filled desires, all of them having Fredrick as a staring role, which did little to help Becca get her raging hormones under control. Hendrick was mid-speech, when his eyes glazed over, clearly getting a mind-link from the pack, and he quickly excused himself, stepping out of the casemates, where they stood looking at yet another statue of Holger Danske for privacy. “Are you okay?” Alisha turned to Becca, knowing her sister-in-law was struggling with something. “Yeah, fine. Just annoyed that the Tit avoider couldn’t be arsed to come here and give you all the information,” Becca sighed. “You are thinking about him way more than you should, for someone you don’t like,” Alisha gave Becca a knowing smile. “No,” Becca lied, avoiding eye contact with her best friend, who not only could read her like a book but had the gift of discernment so could sniff out a falsehood from a thousand feet. “If you say so, but don’t think I didn’t hear that buzzing last night. Did you know you said his name?” Alisha smirked. “I didn’t… did I?” Becca’s eyes widened in shock. “Yeap, you sure did,” Alisha bit her bottom lip, giggling. “You lie,” Becca used her own discernment gift to deduce Alisha was just winding her up. “Yeah, but your reaction tells me that you were thinking of him when getting off last night,” Alisha laughed and shrugged. “Shut up,” Becca huffed, shaking her head, but had a small upturn of her lips letting Alisha know she was not really angry at her. “Maybe all this lust is just part of your own personal healing journey. It may be that you are starting to be ready to explore new opportunities and preparing yourself for a second chance mate,” Alisha mused. “Or that I need to get laid, and the bunny isn’t doing the job like it used to,” Becca shrugged. “Would you do that though? Go against the mate bond?” Alisha asked, without any judgment. “Like the mate bond was kind to me, I no longer hold it in high regard like you do,” Becca answered honestly. “I guess for all Asher and I had our own rocky start, I am blessed to have him as my mate. God, I miss him,” Alisha sighed, a faraway look in her eyes as she thought about her mate, the king. “Hey, you can borrow Bunny if you want,” Becca laughed. “Ewe, no thanks, I don’t want secondhand things that go buzz in the night. I know where that’s been,” Alisha shuddered at the thought. Becca laughed and nodded her head. “Plus, can you imagine Asher’s reaction!” Alisha said. “Oh please, that would be classic!” Becca grinned, the look of mischievousness dancing in her eyes. “Don’t you dare, he will go mental,” Alsiha warned her sister-in-law. “Yeah, he will. You will not be able to sit down for a week,” Becca laughed. Alisha looked at her sister-in-law, a small smile on her lips. “Well, maybe he does need to be pranked when we get back,” She giggled again. “You dirty, dirty queen,” Becca laughed, as Hendrick returned, and bowed his head. “I am sorry, but we need to cut this short. I need to return to the pack,” the royal beta announced. “What? Does his royal arse need you to do his work for him, lazy bastard,” Becca said under her breath. “Becca, pack that in!” Alisha warned over the mind link. Becca looked at her friend, and the queen apologetically, knowing that she needed, once more, to learn how to control herself. The last thing she wanted was to destroy years of friendship that existed between the Scandinavian Royals and her own parents. Hendrick ignored the snipe at his prince. He understood that to an outsider Fredrick's behaviour was more than a little odd, especially when he should be entertaining the UK royal wolves. He understood why the gorgeous Princess Rebecca felt like Fredrick's behaviour was a slight towards them, and that they would be put out by his behaviour. But such was his life, and not for the first time he cursed the existence of Løna Koch, for bringing such pain and suffering to his best friend. He just hoped that the offence that Fredrick was causing would not negatively affect the King and Queen of Scandinavia’s excellent relationship with the UK royals, that they had forged over many years with the previous King Zander and Queen Chloe. However, he had more pressing things to attend to at this moment, and he was needed back at the pack.
