New day brings new start, Hazel reminded herself as soon as she woke up in the morning. Austin came late last night just as he had said. He is an actor and their schedule can be extremely busy.
She walked down dressed in a expensive pair of tight fitted grey pants and white blouse that was tucked in into the pants. Her long black hair were placed in tight pony tail and her curtain flicks were fanning her face. She had applied very minimal make up.
Today she is going to attend few interviews, trying her luck. Though she is already married to a billionaire but that doesn’t mean that she can take her career for granted. She had studied for years to achieve her graduation , she just can’t let it go.
She stepped downstairs and looked around. It was barely nine in the morning but Austin wasn’t around , instead there was a pot of what Hazel thought was breakfast. She removed the lid and yes , it was food .
Austin is completely a husband material. Smiling to herself , she sat on the kitchen stool and silently are the food. Once done, she washed the plate and made her way out of the bungalow.
To her surprise, a driver was ready for her.
“ Good morning, Mrs Roberts.” The guard greeted with a slight bow.
“ Good morning.” She greeted back.
“ Mr Elio told me to be at your service all the time, ma’am.” He explained when he saw how confused Hazel looked.
Realisation flooded on her face . “ that’s very kind of him.” She said and offered him a smile who smiled back before opening the back door for Hazel.
She sat down on the plush seat of the car and placed her handbag on her lap. The driver asked for the address and she gave the directions.
Once the driver got the address right , Hazel let herself gaze out of the window. Today was the big day for her. She has never attended any interview before but oral exam were always scary in the college. She would often blurt out weird things at weird times. She can just pray that today wasn’t that case.
The driver stopped the car by a tall building and Hazel stepped down. She hoped that she won’t embarrass herself.
And the case wasn’t the same. She attended three interviews and regardless to say, she thought that she did good. Obviously, she could have done better but the interviews weren’t bad.
When she finally reached home, she just wanted to lie down on her bed. Austin wouldn’t be at home and she being alone gives her the opportunity to just laze around.
The driver finally pulled the car in front of bungalow again. Hazel immediately stepped out and was ready to go into the house.
“ Who are you?” she heard a man’s voice. She gaze upward and saw a man standing just outside the gate, wearing black t-shirt and black jeans. He had his arms folded on his chest and was glaring at Hazel.
He looked familiar though. His features were familiar. His hair were dark and his eyes were intense. Hazel observed that his upper lip was thin as compared to his lower lip.
“ I—I” what should she say? That she is Mrs Roberts? But Austin told her to not speak about it to anyone.
“ She is your Sister in-law.” A hoarse voice said and hazel immediately turned around and saw Austin standing behind her.
He just arrived. And Hazel can’t be any more thankful.
“ I had told you about her already , remember?” Austin said , his voice holding a warning but Hazel brushed it away. “ Hazel this is my little brother, Edward and Edward, this is my wife.” He said and hugged Hazel by her waist.
Edward gazed at Hazel from top to bottom, scanning her. Hazel squirm in his gaze.
“ Welcome to the family, Hazel.” Edward said and hazel snapped to look at his eyes. The man gave her forced smile.
“ Thank you.” She replied.
“ Let’s go in.” Austin said and with his hand still on Hazel’s waist, he opened the gate and walked all them to the house.
“ Grandpa’s choice is always reliable. He knows what is good.” Edward commented as soon as he stepped in the living room. Austin turn to give him a smirk.
“ He has been in this field more than us.” Austin commented. “ Sweetheart, why don’t you make coffee for all of us?” he said while looking at Hazel .
“ of course. I’ll be right back.” She said as she detached herself from her husband and made her way towards the kitchen, eager to be away from the Roberts brother.
Austin watched her retreating sight as he turned and walked towards the sofa. Edward sat on the sofa too .
“ You came earlier than expected.” Austin said. Edward shrugged.
“ I am known for doing my work fastest. It’s my style and you know it.” Edward said with a arrogant smirk on his face. Austin chuckled.
As the brothers chatted for God knows what, Hazel was struggling for everything. She didn’t knew where the appliances are or where are the ingredients. And she certainly don’t want to humiliate herself by calling her fake husband and asking for his help, at least not in front of Edward.
By opening each of the kitchen cabinets she began to search for the ingredients. Luckily , she found the coffee in the top cabinet. She opened the lower cabinet and sighed when she saw the coffee maker.
She took it out and placed it on the counter. She added the water and placed the filter she thankfully found in the drawer. She then added the coffee . And now she has to wait.
As the coffee brew, Hazel peeked her head towards the hall and saw that Austin and Edward were talking with very serious expression. Weren’t brothers are supposed to be playful? They didn’t even hugged each other or at least exchanged congratulatory.
Hazel never had a sibling so she didn’t exactly knew how they are supposed to work. Shrugging to herself, she poured the coffee into three cups and made her way out.
As Hazel placed the tray on the coffee table, she immediately sat beside Austin who instantly pulled her by her waist.
Edward eyed their moment with neutral face. He took one of the cup from the tray and took a sip quietly.
“ So Hazel,” he called . “ Are You still in college?” he asked , looking directly at Hazel. Austin raised his brow at him.
“ No . I recently graduated.” She informed him . “ I just came back today after giving interviews.”
Both male snapped at that.
“ What?” Austin asked. “ Why do you need to work? You know right that my salary can pay enough for both of us?” he asked, brows furrowed. Hazel frowned at him. Who is he to judge her decisions? And besides, this marriage is temporary, he has no right over her .
“ I know, honey. But I didn’t spent my years studying if I just had to play a trophy housewife to you.” She said, voice as soft as honey but Austin picked up the hidden bite in it.
“ Interesting.” Austin heard Edward say but he paid him no heed.
“ I am not judging you. I was just shocked.” Austin commented and gave Hazel a soft smile.
“ Anyways.” Edward said loudly to get the couple’s attention back to him. “ Nathan was asking me about when are you giving us celebratory party.” He said while looking at Austin. Hazel was once again confused about who this Nathan was.
Austin rolled his eyes. “ That guy is always up for free booze.” He said with a chuckle as he brought his cup of coffee to his mouth, taking a small sip . “ You know how busy I get usually and now I have a new film to shoot.”
“ You are always busy, bro. But that is not an excuse. You marry once in your life.” He said and turned to look at Hazel. “ unless something happens and you have to marry again.” He smirked and a shiver ran down Hazel’s spine. It was as if Edward was taunting her.
“ That is not going to happen. Right sweetheart?” Austin asked softly as he pecked Hazel’s forehead.
“ of course love.” Hazel replied smiling sweetly at him.
“ As for the celebration, we can hold one this Sunday, what do you say?” Austin asked , as he turned his gaze back at Edward who had cleared is cup of coffee.
“ I’ll discuss it with them and let you know.” Edward said. He glanced at his watch before looking back at him. “ I have to go. Nathan is waiting for me.” He said and stood up. “ It was nice meeting you, sister-in-law.” He commented with w smirk.
“ likewise.” Hazel replied while Austin was silently ordering Edward to leave.
Once Edward was gone , Hazel turned to look at Austin who placed his empty cup of coffee down on the table.
“ I had forgotten to ask you about Edward when you had discussed about him with your grandparents.” She said. “ I had absolutely no idea who he was when I first saw him.”
Austin nodded. “ He is my brother, obviously. Three years younger than me and he currently works in Japan, managing Roberts branch there.” He explained and Hazel just nodded.
“ Grandma called me to tell that Edward would be visiting us today and so I drove directly here.” He added . “ anyways. I have to go back to work. See you later?”
“ yeah. Bye.” Austin nodded in acknowledgment and Hazel watched as he walk out of the bungalow . Once he was gone, Hazel walked towards her room, changed into simpler clothes and made her way towards the library .
She had been dying to read the fictional literature here. The books were so many and Hazel was confused . She grabbed one thick book that had a promising title and cover page.
She made herself comfortable on the chair in front of the fireplace. Minutes pass into hours and Hazel didn’t even knew when she fell asleep.
