Asteria
“Well, I am Asteria. No need to handshake or hugs, I don’t do those beside I didn’t like hugging hypocrite,” I said, one of her eyebrows was raised at what I said, but when she saw Gray looking at her, she just smiled.
“I am not a hypocrite person, and I’m Leiya— Gray’s childhood friend. Just info if you didn’t know.” She smirked while saying that, I immediately smiled at her and we started walking away from there.
“What is it?” Gray replied to her while seeing the joy of seeing his childhood friend supposedly, I even like a dumb cause they were the only ones talking.
“I’m going to study here too,” she said happily, I immediately laughed softly because maybe her skirt is just as short as the shorted she’s wearing now.
“It’s good that Uncle allowed you to study here,” Gray replied as I saw him smiling at her, later we arrived at the hut where Gray lived, and Aunt Cecilia greeted us with a smile.
“Here you are, and you too, hija,” she said while meeting this hug, I immediately continued to enter when Gray stopped.
“Wait, Miss your sandals,” he said I immediately sighed and removed it, I was surprised when Aunt Cecilia tapped me.
“Hija, come in. We will eat while your room is at the bottom of the double-deck of the hut, is that okay?” she asked me as I just nodded, avoiding getting close to people here because I was only a temporary.
I could hear their happy story as I changed clothes in the room that Aunt Cecilia said.
I was at the top of the double-deck while I still had to climb the wooden stairs to go up. I put on my nightgown silk with my curved shape— it was white with flowers on the bottom part with a robe.
I tied my hair while looking at myself in their vintage mirror and finally came out.
When I went to their kitchen, their story stopped, and I saw two familiar faces.
“Hija, sit here.” Aunt Cecilia said as she made me sit on the chair next to an unfamiliar man.
“No, you’re here, young lady,” Gray offered me next to Leiya’s chair. I immediately smiled at him because I was still frustrated with him for not paying attention to me since Leiya’s came.
I sat in the chair her Mother was saying and began to believe in silence again.
“Oh, Asteria. He’s next to my eldest son, Blake, and this is my husband, Sebastian,” she said while I was just nodded. Blake immediately held out his hand, and I could feel Gray looking at me.
I thought of an idea and reached for it.
“Well, I am Asteria. I like your hairstyle,” I boasted while I saw that Gray’s forehead was furrowed. I was surprised when he suddenly faked a cough, so we all focused our attention on him.
“Let’s start praying. Lead son, Gray,” his Mother said, and we started praying, I can see in my peripheral version Gray looking at me while praying.
After that, Leiya’s started to spoon a food of Gray which I looked up, so I immediately took some rice, and I also spooned a food of Blake who was looking at me in astonishment, maybe he thought I liked him.
“Thank you, Asteria,” Blake whispered as I just smiled at him. We started eating while Leiya’s kept telling them about her life in the city— she just wanted to tell her biography.
“Do you know that I also got a model from the LV brand to promote their brand,” she said while Aunt Cecilia was happily listening to her story while Gray was eating, I immediately averted my eyes when he stared at me.
“I heard the LV brand, and it is famous for the bags of rich, hija. You are excellent, I congratulate you,” Aunt praised her, and they all immediately turned their attention to me when I laughed.
“I never heard your name in LV’s brand, well I’m fond of their brand since,” I told her.
The corner of my lip immediately rose when I saw Gray looking at me while speaking. Indeed, I have never heard his name on social media about that.
“Excuse me?” Leiya raised her eyebrows; she thought she was too high to be an LV model.
“What? I was right when I said that for someone like me who loves fashion.” I smiled at her while her face was not painted, and she would have stood in front of me.
“Wait, let me get something for you,” I said to her as they just stared at us when I got to the room I took my newly bought Hermes bag that I brought here in the province.
When I returned, I immediately gave her my Hermes bag. “Here, this is my gift for you,” I said while she was looking at me badly, the shock was evident to her even if she didn’t show it.
“Well, you can sell it if you want. It is 1.2 million pesos by the way,” I told her, Aunt Cecilia was immediately stunned by what I said, “That bag is costly, hija,” she said while I just sat back in my chair while just smiling at them.
“Well, that’s cheap for us,” I answered confidently and started finishing what I was eating.
After a while, I started saying goodbye to go to the room that they had prepared for me. I just smiled at them before I went there.
Leiya’s still there, and it looks like she still intends to sleep here, I am always overwhelmed the absence every time she speaks. Ever since she was embarrassed because of the Hermes bag, I gave her.
She has not told about her life in the city instead, just about her studies that don’t take away her intention because of her arrogance.
Blake was also talking to me earlier, and I could see his simple stare at us while eating, they ate well. The food here is better because it’s fresh and comes from the countryside itself.
“Hija, here is your blanket…” Aunt Cecilia knocked on the door of the room she provided; some of my belongings were already in the cabinet while the others were still in the suitcase. When I opened the door, Aunt Cecilia exposed me with a smile. She handed me a thin white blanket while sitting on the bed for a while.
“Hija, I know… you don’t like Leiya,” she said while she folded clothes lying on the bed. I was immediately sighed because honestly, I don’t like her. Obviously, from what I did, I don’t want her arrogance even though her words aren’t valid.
“I do not want to lie, obviously yes,” I just answered what she said. I don’t want to argue why I don’t like that woman. Maybe there are people you don’t like right away at first sight.
“You know, hija… Leiya is a good child even though sometimes she is a bit arrogant maybe, and she wants to elevate herself to people. If that’s the case, just let her go. It’s not good if you also hit her with another brag,” she said while I thought about what she said a little, I didn’t speak, and she finally put it in the cabinet all folded.
“Good evening, hija… I hope thou can sleep well tonight,” she said as she hugged me when she remembered what I said I wasn’t embracing.
“Good evening too, what are you talking about? I am the only one here.” I laughed because I was the only one who could sleep here alone and no one else.
“Oh, dear. Didn’t Gray tell you that you two can sleep here because we don’t fit in another room? He just took Leiya to her home, wait for him. Can I leave the gas lamp?” she asked me, and I just nodded, even though I didn’t know what she was referring to. What they say is too deep to bleed my nose.
I was about to speak when I realized that Gray was always with me at night when it suddenly came out and closed the door. I just sighed. I began to remove the clip of my hair and began to sit on my bed— double deck height.
How many times have I tried to turn a blind eye because I don’t want to talk to Gray, but, my eyes still don’t want to? I felt the door open, and I was sure it was Gray, I could feel it slowly sitting on the bed while I was still pretending to be asleep.
“Young lady, are you still awake?” he asked me, I didn’t speak when he suddenly turned off the light that illuminated the room.
