Chapter 13: Some decisions are not easy Argent              I blow out a breath and watch as Penelope walks out the door. Hearing her tell me that she loves me is a painful yet exhilarating feeling. However, I meant what I said to her. I need time. She’s everything to me, but I’m not sure that I’m ready to move beyond where we are.              I can’t think about this anymore. There are far too many things running through my mind.              One of them is what I should do about Sebastian. So many questions had arisen from my search when I had no doubts before. I know, Sebastian. He and I trained together. We were closer than brothers. It makes no sense to me how he would have been so sloppy in handling his disappearance. Even the way he handled getting rid of the evidence of his misdeeds was careless. Sebastian was one of my smartest and most thorough Assassins. The man was a sharpshooter with extensive tech training and unrivaled infiltration skills. None of it is adding up.              I glance down at my mobile with a contemplative expression for a moment before I make a decision. Reaching for it, I dial a familiar number. Logan answers instantly. “Hey, Apollo. What can I do for you?”              I take a deep breath before I reply. “Hades, I need your help.”              Logan doesn’t argue or ask questions as I lay out what I know. “I’m going to send you several encrypted files pertaining to Sebastian. In the files, you’ll find his profile and everything that has occurred over the past year. Once you’ve read through it, I want you to give me your unbiased opinion. No one can know about this though─no one. Not even my men. Do you understand what I’m asking?”              Logan concedes respectfully. “Alright. By when do you want it?”              “As soon as possible,” I reply evenly. “And don’t hold back. I want you to be honest.”              It’s difficult for me to ask those things of him. Maybe it’s because Sebastian was my best friend, and I’m hoping that there’s something that can redeem him. Or maybe it’s because I need someone to verify that Sebastian did indeed betray me. Either way, I need an impartial assessment.              That night, I lay in my bed, feeling the sting of my solitude. I look at my side of the bed and run my fingers across the empty pillow. It has only been a couple of days, yet I feel her loss, which is stupid, considering that she’s waiting for me. I just can’t. As much as it pains me, I’m not ready. Closing my eyes tightly, I slide my palms across my face and release a frustrated sigh.              I don’t fall asleep until early in the morning. Unfortunately, that’s when the sound of my cell phone ringing wakes me up. Blinking the haze from my eye, I reach for my discarded slacks and pull out my mobile. My heart stutters when I see Logan’s name on the screen, which makes me shoot up like a bullet.              I swallow hard before I press the green answer button on the shiny screen. “Logan,” I answer firmly.              Logan instantly responds. “We need to talk, Apollo. I booked you a flight to LA. You have two hours to get to the airport. Don’t tell any of your men.”              I don’t ask a question. I know that when Logan says something so direct, he’s has something very significant to tell me. “I’ll be there,” I reply before I disconnect the call.              It doesn’t take me long to get dressed. As I’m clipping my cuffs, I glance back at my unmade bed and think about Penelope; I can’t stop thinking about the way she looked lying in my bed, her silken limbs stretched out across the bed. The way her firm breasts and velvety n*****s stiffen and the way her pink folds glisten between her soft thighs.              My body instantly becomes aroused as I lean down, pick up her pillow, and inhale her sweet scent. My c**k twitches inside of my pants as need overwhelms me. I need her. I just don’t know if I can be what she wants, and that’s what scares me.
