|PART II OF THE STORY: THE PSYCHOPATH ON THE LOOSE| 20. Every f*****g second of it. The night before. Killian. The naivety of people sometimes amazes me. I watch with twisted satisfaction as the pathologist speaks while Demyan interrogates him. The man is half dead, tied up, electrocuted and beaten, but he knows he'll get a good reward for this. "You see, sir?" I say to Demyan, "Yuri was always the enemy." Demyan Ivanov is a cowardly, gullible man who thinks he is full of greatness. In reality, he is the smallest and most naive man I have ever met. His blinding desire for power makes him a frankly intolerable being who falls for the first one who sweetens his ear and promises him what is not yet his. Of course, I took advantage of that. It was easy. It was hell. But easy.
