Challenge by Empire

While Aurora was surprised at the appearance of the Harthom leader. Andrew tries to speak to her. He knew about the identity of Thomas that is because he told him. Well, that would be confusing to them but he and anyone closer to Thomas understand the situation he's in.

"Who is Wayne by the way? Whenever a foreign person talks to him, they always say that he is Wayne even though he is not, and it is irritating to most of us. The priest and the adventurer always mistakenly identify our leader as Wayne. And what was most irritating, and offending is that the story about that person is opposite to him. Our leader is smart, proactive, benevolent, and profound while that person is stupid, good-for-nothing, brat. Please in the future if you were to meet our President please be considerate and do not tell or say to them especially in the crowd that he is Wayne. Got it?"

"But he looks so similar to him."

"..." Andrew did not reply he rubbed his head in irritation.

Aurora who notices the grim face of Andrew immediately changed the topic.

"So, you want to know who is Wayne right? I can tell you."

Bringing up the topic Andrew's was aroused.

"Okay, it all starts in..."

The story about Thomas was not complicated. He was born in the Incredal Kingdom the youngest child of King Bermund. When he was a child, he is a naughty and arrogant boy who trouble almost the royalty. Although his action was harmless the reputation of Bermund which they built for decades was slowly deteriorating. His father almost wants to deny that he was his child but, her mother whose love is unconditional protected him. Wayne loves to travel. Aurora said that he often visits the Empire. His childish act was unacceptable to the Bermund family. Compare to his brothers and sisters whose mind is mature enough even at the age of 12 were so disgusted at him. There is only one person who cares deeply about him. It was his fourth child. Her sister Anna.

Aurora and Wayne knew each other since they were childhood friends. But his brother keeps bragging that Aurora was arranged to marry the second son prince Timothy making Wayne jealous since he has a crush on Aurora. He brazenly confessed his love to her when he was about to leave the Empire, but she rejected it. Who knows? maybe he was not good enough and cannot keep to her standard. She only sees him as a friend and nothing more. When he was 14 her mother died. It was a huge blow for Wayne because her mother is the only one whose siding him. Her sister is not that influential to the family. And rumored said that Wayne committed suicide due to depression and his corpse was thrown out of the sea.

Hearing the story of Thomas's vessel Andrew felt nothing but pity. It cannot be helped since feudality is always this strict because, in the future, they will be the ones to govern their kingdom.

"Thank you for sharing the story Aurora, it was sad. Pressured by his family and felt lonely and abandoned. He went through a lot I must say."

"I don't despise him. We created so much memory when we were a kid. So, I was surprised too."

Just as they are having a casual conversation a knocked on the door was heard. The door opened after the knock. It was the messenger of Aurora.

"Princess Aurora. The Senate and the King approve to their demands."

"That's good"

"But one condition. The United States Harthom must demonstrate their power to the King. If he is satisfied with the result, then the Empire will not intervene but when they failed. The Empire will declare war on the Harthom for the reason of breaching the Empire. That's all."

"Deal!" Andrew immediately agreed on the Empire's condition.

"But without informing your country? You immediately decided on the spot? Is that even possible?"

"Princess, I have the liberty to decide on behalf of my President. Of course, he would love to demonstrate our power." Andrew said confidently. "So how do we do it?" He asked the messenger.

"There would be three trials. The first one is your infantry, the second your air force, and lastly your navy. There would be a dummy target on each trial. In the infantry, you will face monsters and in the air force you will fight our wyvern, in the navy, you will face our navy. How's that?"

"Seems fine with me. Okay on behalf of my country we humbly accept the challenge of the Empire."

"Then we would prepare the necessary preparation."

"And we would do the same as well."

After making the deal the messenger leaves the room. Aurora looked meekly at Andrew.

"Now that we fulfill our obligation on this deal. Now it’s time for you to hold up your bargain. "

Andrew sighed and picked his phone. He dialed the number of Thomas. The phone was ringing. And after ten seconds Thomas picked up.

"Mr. President, I'm glad to inform you that the Regirenth Empire complied with our demands."

"Okay good. I'll issue an order to recall the troops stationed there..."

"Wait Mr. President there is one condition" Andrew interjected.

"What is it?"

"We must showcase our military power to them. In the army, air force, and navy. They will handle the arrangement. Mr. President, I already agreed this is a good chance to show that our country is not to be angered."

"Okay, I'll consult with the Joint Chiefs, the secretary of defense, and my chief of staff. Expect someone to call you later."

"Okay, Mr. President."

The transmission ended he looked to Aurora he put his hands onto his pocket and said.

"Our country agreed".

"Since we are done, I would love to have an opportunity to discuss your country. You know I want to know our future allies please sit Sir Andrew."

Andrew was beckoned to sit in front of her. He did what she said and sat in front of her.

"So, I'll introduce to you the United States of Harthom. The United States of Harthom is a democratic country with a population of 328 million people with a land of 9,834,000 square kilometers. It has made up of 50 states. Our language is English."

"Democratic? What does it mean?"

Aurora asked an odd question. Andrew was quite surprised that they did not know about democracy. He assumed that they were in a feudal society where merits are nothing.

"Democracy is where the leader and representative of the country were chosen by its citizens. Anyone can climb up the ladder even though you are a commoner you can have a higher position if you prove yourself useful. In short, it is based on merits.

"Huh?!" Aurora's mouth is widened.

"I understand your perplexed expression, but it is true anyone can be the supreme leader if the people voted for him or her. It is completely different from your political system. Base on my understanding your political system is considered ancient. Because it does not work even the king is doing a good job or not. There will be someone who wants power and will do anything to attain it. I don't mean that your system is bad it’s just that autocracy has never worked before according to history."

"Did that answer your question?"

"Yeah, most of it. Thank you for sharing that information."

"Okay it's nice talking to you" Andrew yawned.

"You seem tired Sir Andrew? Want to take a rest? You can use our guest room if you like."

"Is that okay? Then let me use it I was awake for 20 hours and barely had enough rest."

Aurora called the royal maids to assist Andrew in his room.

"The room will be prepared in ten minutes please wait here Sir Andrew."

"I'm not going anywhere hehe."

After ten minutes the room was ready, Andrew was sleepy and accidentally took a nap on the couch. He was taken by the maids. Andrew saw a group of maids wearing a maid dress. They wore a long black dress and a white apron and a white hairband ribbon.

The group went to the guest room where Andrew and his guards will take a rest while waiting for the demonstration. The maids opened the door and assist Andrew to his bed. While the guards were guarding the door and the inside.

"Why are you not resting sir? We handle your security here." Aurora spoke to one of Andrew's guard

"Thank you for the offer but our job is to protect him. We are trained so don't worry"

"Well if you insist. If you need anything just asked the head maid, she will take care of it." Aurora said tapping the shoulder of the maid beckoning her to introduce herself.

"My name is Siziel the head maid of the royal palace. Please to meet you. If you need anything just ask me".

After their introduction. Andrew fell to sleep after falling to the soft bed. He expected that the bed will be uncomfortable and hard since they are in the middle age, but he was shocked when he felt the fluffy bed.
