As the South African Airlines flight passed over Lake Malawi, Tapiwa dispassionately surveyed the other travellers on the aircraft. She was back in a war zone her antennae on full alert; kill or be killed was her mantra. The two mercenaries she had already met were proof that others were on her trail. She knew Malawi was a very poor country; the ramshackle nature of the airport and the largely agrarian economy she had seen on the landing approach confirmed it. The current leader had been the victim of an assassination plot when she had served the previous President. It seemed to symbolize all that was wrong with African leadership.
