Just when she thought God was on her side. A sigh slipped out of her lips as she frustratingly glanced at the car parked in front of hers.
This cannot be happening to me on the first day, she thought while stifling a groan.
Why would he purposely park on her place? He has death wish.
Well it was technically not hers but she does park there daily. So it's kind of hers. Do you get it? Frustrated at that she stomps her feet and bang her hand against the steering emitting a loud horn. Startled at the voice Jade wakes up.
"Stomping your feet won't make his car disappear An. You must know this by now." Violet mumbled looking up from her phone and rolling her eyes.
"That's really helpful. Thanks Vi." Anna sarcastically mumbled not bothering to spare her a look.
"One of these days I'm going to kill him. God! It's the first day after break." She snarled and drove away and moved towards the empty spot, a few cars away. This was not how she imagined her first day to go. The first day after break.
"Ann do you want me to buy you a gun to kill him? You are in a mood." Jade mumbled sleepily from the back seat. A second later Anna heard a loud yawn and clearing of throat.
"Wow. Look who decided to grace us with her existence." Violet muttered sarcastically while eyeing Jade who sprawled lazily on her seat trying to make herself comfortable and snuggle the door. Honestly it was borderline embarrassing.
Anna snorted while shaking her head. It was as if Jade was not even present in the car the whole ride.
"Hey! Cut me some slack. I was up all night." Jade croaked while nervously twisting her chain, the one which her mother fussed over to wear. It was a religious symbol.
"What a dedicated student! Your future is bright J."
"You knew that it was a first day of school, right?" Violet asked after a pause.
"I don't need this Vi. Anna please back me up here." Jade whined while huffing a breath dramatically.
"Yo. Vi leave her alone. She kinda looks tired. Definitely she was busy last night." Anna answered. It was true she tried to call Jade so they could have a movie night but she denied stating that she had to chat with a mystery man she met online. Also she hung up without further explanation which was rude.
"Was it because of that mystery man? J one of these days you have to let me see that hunk of your boyfriend who's keeping you up at night. Eh?" Violet said turning towards her.
Jade looked flustered for a second. She was not sure how to react to that. She trusted her best friends more than her life. They really are kind of family as they have been besties since she shifted here. And she's so glad to have found them. She wanted to tell them. It was on tip of her tongue but she swallowed the lump and avoided meeting her eyes. She was not eager to do it. At least not on the first day of school.
"Yeah...Umm...Yeah sure." She mumbled, suddenly her voice low and meek.
Anna heard this sudden change. It was hard to miss. Though Jade appears to be delicate, fragile and small she's sassy and loves a good banter. Especially with Violet. They bicker all the time. Same like her and Rafael.
"Hey. J you okay?" Anna asked while scanning for the perfect place to park.
"Yeah. I'm wonderful. Anyways did you know Justin and Hailee are dating? Finally Jelena is over."
Anna noted the sudden change of topic but let it go. Jade will eventually tell. It's not good to push her.
Violet who was still on twitter, scrolling through her feed dropped the phone on her lap and gasped while covering her mouth with her hand. She's dramatic like that.
"J say what? Why? I mean... They are my otp. And why haven't anyone tweeted about it. I am so angry! Curse you twitter!"
"Will you pipe it down? Besides everyone is your OTP" Anna snorted while shaking her head and then turned off the ignition.
Violet huffed and glared at her. It was so not true. She only had few otps. What? It's not like she can control it. Those were adorable especially Larry Stylinson she shipped. That was only because of Anna. Anna introduced to that one direction band and she fell into that hell hole.
Jade opened the door and got out of the car. As soon as she saw the violet head on the other side she couldn't control it.
"I seriously can't believe you really dyed your hair violet just for a dare." Jade remarked and flinched as the door shut with the hard slam from the other side.
She was familiar that Violet is a wild child and her parents motivated that because her twin brother was wild as well. They didn't really care about her living choices. And sometimes it made her sad because Violet felt neglected at times.
Violet slammed the car door a little harder than necessary, obviously annoyed. She cannot believe Jade was bringing it back again. It's so annoying. She is the kind of girl who never backs out from dare. Her friends would have called her names if she would have backed out and besides colouring your hair that suits your name is good.
Kinda making style statement. It's definitely unique. And also she loved this colour. It was gothic and glossy, just the way she likes it.
"Oh my God Jade. It's been like the tenth time you said that. Will you just let it go?" Violet released a sigh while tucking her jacket in the bag and not sparing her a glance. She couldn't do it on her face, by looking at her.
Anna aware of the tension turned to look at Jade's fallen face. She felt sorry for her. It was not her fault. She was from a conserved strict family and these kind of things always make her worry.
She is not even allowed to stay out past her curfew time which is after 9 pm. It is frustrating for her. She wants to lead a life without restrictions but I guess if your father is a Muslim you have to follow certain trends.
Though her mother is okay with all these new trends and late night parties her father doesn't allow it or considers it. He wants her to wear niquab but she fought hard against that. She's a bit rebellion like that. It was her right tho. To decide what she wants.
"So Vi aren't you happy now knowing that Justin is single and ready to mingle ?" Anna attempted to distract her.
It worked because she grinned and turned towards her and gave her a creepy smile.
"I am thriving. My wig is snatched. Never been this blessed sis..."
"Okay. Enough with Twitter stan language. Let's go now." Jade flexed her arms and cracked her knuckles and tightened her back pack strap. Violet rolled her eyes at that and together they walked towards the gate.
"Wish Rafe was here" Violet voiced out.
"That b***h will return after two days. He's probably enjoying his sunbath in Bali. Ugh I'm so jealous." Anna muttered while blowing the loose strands of her hair from her face.
Rafael was like her brother actually. No scratch that he was the only person who love to annoy her. Well after Tylor of course.
Rafael knows to ruffle her feathers and he's so crass, offensive and dirty mouthed that he shouldn't even be allowed to talk. Like ever.
"You would think. He's with his family not his boyfriend. He spammed my inbox this morning complaining about his obnoxious father and loud mother." Violet twisted her lips. She was so not happy to wake with these many notifications. It was annoying.
As soon as they stepped near the gate the bold letters on the board greeted them. Spring's High.
Anna felt a smile creep upon her lips. Finally they were back. It had been such a long break but she couldn't complain as she got to go to Maysville. She stayed there almost the entire break doing the thing she loved the most. Writing. She enrolled in a creative writing programme in Maysville and spent that time with thirty strangers and made so many friends out of those. It was a beautiful experience.
Six more months and they'll be graduated. They'll be high school graduates, ready to apply for universities. Wow just to think about it makes her feel jittery.
She cannot imagine what it would be like not being here.
"Is it just me or does this school looks suddenly beautiful?" She questioned standing at the entrance. There was nothing new.
The same old black huge gates with old trees looming over them and a huge grand entrance which led them inside the building. Same old.
"Of course it's just you, dumbass." The most annoying voice in the entire world answered while standing beside her. Ofcourse it's him.
"Oh God! It's you. Wow. Thanks for ruining my entire day by opening your ugly mouth." Anna snapped while huffing.
Ugh she hates him so much.
"Glad I could do that babe. Anyways hi Violet. Rocking that colour. Jade, you look rested." He smirked.
"Thanks wish I could say the same thing about you" Violet innocently uttered while eyeing his dark brown hair. Actually they were natural unlike her but she wouldn't give him that upper hand and besides he was in the group that dared her to colour her hair violet.
"Ooh" Anna and Violet shared a high-five.
"Do ya need ointment for that burn?" Jade teased.
"Nah I got it covered. Besides..."
"Ty!"
They all snapped their heads at the same time, it was comical. The source of the voice, Aaron approached them while his helmet was firmly gripped in one hand. Looks like he drove his motorbike today.
Anna gave him a bright smile, so bright that Violet had go give her arm a tug.
"Keep it in your pants." Violet whispered.
Unfortunately that is difficult. See, Aaron is the guy she extremely likes. Only thing is he's Tylor's best friend. Bro.They are partners in crime. Or whatever. They have been best friends since first grade and they are neighbours as well.
Aaron was definition of perfect
with his dirty blonde hair pushed back neatly and his dimples. It seemed like God took his time to craft this fine specimen.
But the thing is all the girls in school swooned at his looks but he didn't pay attention to them. It was comical.
Anna glanced at his check shirt with neatly rolled sleeves by the elbows paired with black skinny jeans. His black rimmed glasses were perched on his nose and she could clearly see those moss green eyes as they crinkled as he hugged his best friend.
"I thought we were car pooling." Aaron yelled parting away from him. And then he turned towards the girls and false them a dimpled smile.
"Good morning beautiful ladies."
See. Charming.
"I had to be here early. Secretary duties and all." Tylor rolled his eyes like that was a task he would rather not do. He agreed to it only because he could make her life living hell. It was so fun to annoy her.
"Like you even care" Anna snickered.
"Guys too early for a fight. Innit?" Aaron patted Tylor's shoulder in a pleading manner as if trying to protect stop him from saying something mean to Anna. She didn't deserve that on first day.
He just cannot pinpoint these two. They are always competing each other and it's like watching Tom and Jerry only difference at least they call it a truce at one point. Aaron has always admired Anna but for some reason he just couldn't go through with it. He likes her a lot. She's the kind of girl he would date. Definitely.
"Whatever" Tylor muttered in an uninterested voice.
"So where's Rafe?" Aaron observed.
"It's a long story..." Violet sighed.

"This is so exciting. I love Sanskrit."
"That's a sentence I never thought I would hear." Anna murmured looking at Jade. She cannot believe she was doing this. It was the second lecture, she already had Italian language but she was taking this class as well.
It's not like she has a choice. Taking extra language class meant more marks and honestly she needs it to become a valedictorian this year. It's her only chance to be smug and gloat to Tylor about it.
"Hey! This'll be fun I promise."
"And that's what she said" Anna smirked while pulling out her book.
"Anna! This is a holy language. Don't speak ill like this." Jade slapped her arm. Anna winced at that. Jade knows to slap alright.
"But I'm bored already." Anna sighed.
Just then she heard the footsteps from the doorway. She tilted her head in the direction of the voice and peeked at the person approaching. Wow.
